Nikki Webster (born 30 April 1987) is an Australian pop performer. She is best known for her starring role in the 2000 Sydney Summer Olympics Opening Ceremony and her single "Strawberry Kisses".
Nikki Webster was born in Sydney, New South Wales on 30 April 1987. Her first appearance on stage was at the age of four and she appeared in her first commercial at the age of six, a Jenny Craig commercial. In 1994, she was a member of the cast of Aladdin and made a guest appearance on Home and Away. In 1995, she was in the ensemble cast of an Australian production of Cinderella and made a guest appearance on ABC TV's G. P..
Nikki went to MLC School in Burwood until Year 4, before enrolling in The McDonald College of the Performing Arts in North Strathfield, Sydney. There, she attended drama, ballet, musical theatre, and singing tuition, as well as obtaining her Higher Schools Certificate in Business Studies, Music, Dance, Drama, Unit 2 English and General Mathematics, achieving a university admissions index of 56.35. Although she was rather disappointed with her mark (she was aiming for an 80), she knew she gave her Higher School Certificate her best shot and gave it "a run for its money" whilst it lasted..
Webster won her first billed stage appearance as Young Cosette in Les Misérables in 1997-98. There she worked with Dave Willetts, Rachael Beck, Amy Vierboom and other less successful personalities. She also guest-hosted Midday in 1998 with Kerri-Anne Kennerley. In 1999, Nikki Webster won the role of Brigitta von Trapp in The Sound of Music with Lisa McCune and continued to perform in the role into 2000. In 2000 she became a household name in Australia following her performance as "Hero Girl" at the opening ceremony of the 2000 Sydney Olympics. Her song "We'll Be One" was released as a single in Australia in 2000 and went gold.
 Recording career
Webster signed a contract with BMG after her success in the Olympics and her first single "Strawberry Kisses" reached #2 on the Australian singles charts in 2001 and went platinum. Her debut album Follow Your Heart also went platinum with second single "Depend on Me" going top 20 and third single "The Best Days"/"Over the Rainbow" going top 40. She also starred as Dorothy in an Australian stage performance of The Wizard of Oz  in 2001/02. Webster was nominated for an ARIA Award for Best Selling album and she won a John O'Keefe Encouragement Award at the 2001 Mo Awards.
Webster's 2002 BLISS album also went gold with first single "Something More Beautiful" going gold and second single "24/7 (Crazy 'bout Your Smile)" also reaching the top 20.
Later, Webster released a cover version of "Dancing in the Street" by Martha and the Vandellas which reached the top twenty while her 2004 single "Let's Dance" also reached the top 40 in Australia. A greatest hits album was released soon afterwards - shortly before she was dropped by BMG.
 Recent career
She also appeared in one episode of Australian TV series Thank God You're Here as a cast member.
In May 2007, Nikki played the lead role of Sheila in a Perth production of the rock musical Hair along with Rob Mills and Cosima De Vito. The production was directed by Chris Kabay and musically directed by Simon Holt of yellow glass theatre.
In September 2007, she raised eyebrows by performing as a wind-up doll at the Sydney gay and lesbian dance party Sleaze Ball. This and her October 2006 photoshoot appearance in men's magazine FHM was seen as an attempt to mature her image.
She also currently regularly appears on the show 20 to 1.
In January 2008, she announced she would be opening a performing arts school in February with brother Scott in a bid to help young people get into the industry.
She has been the face of a range of makeup for young teens, The face of Movie world Theme Park, was named #10 on Who Weekly's ‘Power List’, Is a Mo' and Variety Heart Award winner, played the dream role of Dorothy in the multi-million dollar Australian production of Wizard of Oz, had the highest selling teens clothing range at Kmart and she's only 22-years-old.
At just 22 years of age, Nikki has already made an indelible mark on the Australian Entertainment Industry as well as winning the hearts of countless throughout the world. After her outstanding performance at both the Opening and Closing ceremonies of the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, Nikki received her own Olympic Gold from the successful release of the Olympic hit singles We'll be one and Under Southern Skies.
Not only has Nikki featured in numerous commercials she also performed a duet with Michael Jackson, toured with productions of Aladdin, Cinderella, Les Miserables and The Sound of Music.

2000 Nikki was offered an exclusive worldwide recording contract with Gotham Records/BMG Australia Ltd.
2001 Nikki was launched as the face of Jager, It's a Girl Thing, skincare and beauty range for teens.
Nikki's first pop single ‘Strawberry Kisses' became one of the biggest selling Australian singles of the year opening at No.2 and going on to be a double platinum hit.
Her debut album ‘Follow Your Heart' followed with platinum status and took Nikki on a promotional tour throughout Australia, Europe and Asia. ‘Follow Your Heart' and ‘Strawberry Kisses' were ARIA nominated in the Highest Selling Album/Single categories.
She was also awarded the John O'Keefe Encouragement Award at the prestigious Mo' Awards, and the Variety Heart Award for Young Entertainer of the Year.
With her in-demand success, Nikki began making guest appearances all over Australia and became the spokesperson for a number of different charities including The Spastic Centre of NSW, Camp Quality and the Kids Helpline.
2002 Nikki released her second album Bliss with two Gold hit singles. She also scored the dream role of Dorothy in the multi-million dollar Australian production of 'Wizard of Oz' which toured the East coast of Australia on a sell-out 18 month run. In Late 2002 Nikki was named #10 on Who Weekly's entertainment industry ‘power list’ and also became the face of the Movieworld Theme Park.
2003 brought an invitation from Disney to record a cover of 'I Wanna Be Like You' for the Australian version of The Jungle Book 2' soundtrack. Nikki co-choreographed the clip and helped design outfits. Kmart found out about Nikki's interest in clothing design and approached her about designing a range for the tween market. (5-10 year-olds) Nikki then began the hunt for fashion samples throughout the USA and Europe. Her first clothing label was released nationwide with instant success through Kmart stores in August 2003.
2004 Nikki embarked upon her first full length concert tour. With the release of her third Album ‘Let's Dance' Nikki juggled recording, performing and designing her fashion range along with studying for her high school certificate.
2005 Nikki's profile took a dramatic turn when she was asked to participate in the popular Channel 7 series Dancing with the Stars. The public interest was sparked yet again with her development into a young woman. To celebrate turning 18 The Best of Nikki Webster Album and Bonus DVD was released allowing Nikki to salute her past and free her to explore the future with a new direction in recording and to discover other avenues within the entertainment industry.
2005 also took Nikki to China where she performed the Australian National Anthem along with three of her own hit singles for the V8 Super Car Shanghai. The performance was televised live on Network 10 and around the globe to millions from the USA to Europe. After China, Nikki headed straight to Los Angeles, USA, where she worked with renowned songwriters and record producers. She has put together a fantastic team to develop her unique sound and direction to transform and broaden her horizons and phenomenal career.
2007 Nikki returned to Australia to continue her writing. In May she played the lead role of Sheila in the musical ‘HAIR’ followed by starring as Maureen in the musical 'Rent’.
2008 Nikki focused her full attention to building and opening a performing arts studio with her brother Scott. Dance @ Nikki Webster has quickly become Australia's Premier performing arts studio.
She has been traveling between LA and Australia developing her new sound and it was announced in May 2009 that Nikki is set to release her first new single in 5 years, "Devilicious", June 12. She performed "Devilicious" on The Morning Show on 8/5/09 in order to promote the single. The song hit number one on the Australian Independent Charts.
Her fourth studio album is rumoured to be released sometime in the near future. Nikki also revealed that the album will be edgy and uplifting. She has confirmed that it will not include her bubblegum pop kind of music and will have a mature dance-pop feel to the album.

Combining skills from brother/sister team Nikki and Scott Webster with Artist Manager, Cimone Grayson, this fresh and exciting new agency will launch in Sydney, January 2010. Talent @ Nikki Webster will offer entertainment representation to a select number of performers – all under the age of 17yrs. In the first year the agency will represent just 30 of Australia’s young actors, models, dancers, singers and musical theatre performers.
Former child star Nikki Webster has been successfully running performing arts school Dance @ Nikki Webster along side brother Scott for almost 18 months. The successful duo struck on the idea of creating a talent and modeling agency with a difference, taking a hands-on role with their clientele and providing them with auditions techniques and veteran tips of what makes a successful entertainment career they plan to steer their young team to entertainment success. Cimone Grayson, former assistant for eight years to world-famous director/choreographer Arlene Phillips, will be partnering the pair. Cimone’s time with Arlene has provided her with an extensive knowledge of the Australian and UK entertainment industries, coupled with her own Sydney based Artist Management Company I.N.C Sydney their knowledge will offer a winning combination.
