How many people who hear this (or any other song) delve into the history of it, or of the artist. I support free speech. However, when this song has to stand on its own, it can become a rally cry for racism. Maybe Coe wasn't a racist, but this is by no means a positive song, and anyone who is offended by it has a right to be. I'm not saying that I couldn't see any humor in such a song. It's just that just because something is funny, doesn't mean it's right for everybody. If you truly support free speech, then you should have no issue with the free speech of someone who opposes this song.

I think this song is funny, any one ignorant enough to think the artist (David Allen Coe)is anymore racist then the rest of us should listen to his music. At worst you can say that it reflects the dysfunctional relationships we as Americans put up with on a daily basis. I absolutely love this song. I heard it a few years back, and thought it was hilarious. I actually grew up with black and whites shouldn't be involved. So I was like bhaha my step dads theme song. gotta love it <3 It is freedom of speech, and it was meant as a joke, but people who have morals now days will agree with this song.

DAC is the man and I think the use of his freedom of speech is awesome. I think everyone in this world should be able to use the freedom of speech like he did. I just wish they would let him write more songs like that because I feel the same way he does about certain things.
