New Noise Lyrics - Refused

Review The Song (17)

CAN I SCREAMMMM?!!!
YEAHHHH
We lack the motion to move to the new beat
WHOO!
We lack the motion to move to the new beat

It's here for us to admire if we can afford the beauty of it
If we can afford the luxury of turning our heads
(If we can if we can if we can)
Adjust the thousand dollar smile and behold the creation of man
Great words won't cover ugly actions
Good frames won't save bad paintings

WOOO

We lack the motion to move to the new beat
YEAAAH!
We lack motion

When the day is over (Hey) the doors are locked on us
sponsored links
'Cause money buys the access
And we can't pay the cost
How can we expect anyone to listen
If we're using the same old voice?
We need new noise
New art for the real people

We dance to all the wrong songs
We enjoy all the wrong moves
We dance to all the wrong songs
We're not leading

We dance to all the wrong songs
We enjoy all the wrong moves
We dance to all the wrong songs
We're not, we're not, we're not
We're not, we're not, we're not..
Leading

We dance to all the wrong songs
We enjoy all the wrong moves
We dance to all the wrong songs

We dance to all the wrong songs
We enjoy all the wrong moves
We dance to all the wrong songs

Here we go!

We dance to all the wrong songs
We enjoy all the wrong moves
We dance to all the wrong songs
We're not leading

YEAH!

YEAH!

YEAH!

(16x)The new beat!!

Thank you.

The lyrics on this songs are a mashup of situationist philosophy of art (which the singer has said he's into) and punk (whose art was designed by situationist influence)

they critique art as institution alienated from artists, making everyone into a spectator. you have to pay to be an actor, because the scene isnt yours. new noise for real people means a break with mass culture and making our own underground forms of appreciating art that cannot be recuperated (another situationist term)by capitalism

thats just my opinion though, but i encorage anyone interested in it to look it up, namely revolution of everyday life by vaneigem or society of the spectacle by debord. theres actually another song on this album called derivé, which is a situationist concept created by guy debord about walking the city, or experimenting modern art "as is". pretty cool imo

Adrenaline for thousands. | Reviewer: Anonymous | 9/18/12

Love this song! It's used by the "Axman" (John Axford), Milwaukee Brewers closing pitcher. Whenever it's played and he comes out of the bullpen, the frikin' house EXPLODES and the stadium starts shaking. Great song for getting pumped.

..yaa!! | Reviewer: Brian | 1/29/11

I just watched the movie crank again, it was on t.v. and this song came on! It took me back when I used to rock out w/ friends to this song, etc music. I should have known it was Refused, but 1st thought was Reveille. Still a badazz song/group

The real meaning | Reviewer: Riley | 6/18/09

Actually this track was designed to be a mission statement for the band. It deals with how their progressive lyricism simply didn't belong in punk music anymore.

The music had been coopted by this point to be utilised by lame pop bands singing vague song about love and drinking beer. As such, there was a need to forge a new musical direction

"How can we expect anyone to listen
If we're using the same old voice?
We need new noise"

not to work out too? | Reviewer: zach | 1/23/09

This is one hell of a song, the meaning and just the adrennaline rush you get from hearing it. Oh and for all you liberal/hippie sounding people saying it wasn't meant to pump you up, why the hell would they allow it to be played in Friday Night Lights when Dallas Carter and Permian are coming out at the end? They cant just put it in the movie without their consent, and if they didn't want to be remembered for this being a song to pump people up they wouldn't have let them put it in that particular movie.

end of the song is thank you peace, and instead of about half of those new beats, its thank you ____ sounds like pete but its not. and just to quell this arguement.. its a great song with lots of political and self indulged meanings but its just too pumpin not to work out too

Lol | Reviewer: Jonas Friis-Jeppesen | 6/16/08

Lol, whatever this song means, it can be used as workout- or skating- or whatever-song.
What you say is, because some song has a deep, special meaning, it can't be used for lifting weights? That's ridicolous!

Great song by the way

Awesome song! Not their best, but probably the most popular.

After the line "If we can afford the luxury of turning our heads Lyxzen says "If we can if we can if we can!"

Also missed out the "Hey!" after "when the day is over", but good other than that :P

I love New Noise from the first time I heard it in The Irish Clan (my favourite pub from Gijón).

Amazing. | Reviewer: Anonymous | 8/29/07

Refused are one of my favourite bands right now. This song is what got me into them. I love Lyxen, simple as.

Understanding the song | Reviewer: brit | 8/1/07

Refused is a great band! and NEW NOISE is about kids dancing and enjoying songs that are not liked upon socitiy, the song is about originality and being different from every other song that sounds the same. Not ment to be for your lifting weights its ment to have meaning..not just some work out song.

Subject matter | Reviewer: Anonymous | 7/15/07

I swear none of you seem to get the point of this song.
Video game soundtracks? Music you listen to while you lift weights?
I'm sure that's how Refused want to be remembered.
Pfft.

Sweet song | Reviewer: Anonymous | 6/19/07

This is a great song...good for liftin, ridin, soundtracks...it's allover great. Another good song is Billie Jean- Michael Jackson, ya'll should check it out.
