New American Classic Lyrics - Taking Back Sunday

Review The Song (7)

"We've got to get better."
I said, "It's all in your head."
We could live through these letters
Or forget it all together.
See the months they don't matter.
It's the days I can't take
When the hours move to minutes and I'm seconds away.

Just ask the question.
Come untie the knot.
Say you won't care,
say you won't care.
Retrace the steps
As if we forgot.
Say you won't care,
Say you won't care.
We try to avoid it,

But there's not a doubt,
And there's one thing I can do nothing about.

Well all that we need is just a reaction,
It's too much to ask for when there's no attraction anymore
If chasing our dreams is just a distraction,
I want to remember when I know that I can't go back.

Just ask the question.
Come untie the knot.
Say you won't care,
say you won't care.
Retrace the steps
As if we forgot.
Say you won't care,
Say you won't care.
We try to avoid it (Try to avoid it),
But there's not a doubt,
And there's one thing I can do nothing,
There's one thing I can do nothing,
There's one thing I can do nothing about.

(Finally)
Just ask the question (Just ask the question).
Come untie the knot.
Say you won't care,
Say you won't care.
And retrace the steps (Retrace the steps)
as if we forgot.
Say you won't care.
Say you won't care.
We try to avoid it (Try to avoid it),
But there's not a doubt
And there's one thing I can do nothing,
There's one thing I can do nothing,
There's one thing I can do nothing about.

A classic | Reviewer: Amy | 5/11/2007

The first time I heard this song, I immediately started to cry. It reminds me so much of my long-distance relationship with my ex girlfriend. It just reminds me of the internal struggle that you go through when you know you should end something that means so much to you.

Lyrically and musically this is a beautiful piece of art. The heart and soul that is poured into this song is so apparently evident. If I ever recommend one Taking Back Sunday song, this one is it!

THE CLASSIC. | Reviewer: James | 7/14/2006

Love this song. It's a nice emo song that doesn't include the shouting TBS usually does. and the way this song was sung doesn't ruin the lyrics.

TBS | Reviewer: Meghan | 9/6/2004

The one thing you can always count on from TBS is their lead singers voice being perfect for the song. It's so mellow and emo-ish and totally soothing, it's perfect to listen to when you're working on something important; just slip in their latest CD "Where you want to be" and it's the perfect environment.

New American Classic from TBS is especially good to listen to because it's slow, and mellow and not all crazy and loud like some of their other songs like "There's no I in Team", for example. The guitar in this song is played softly and there's a hint of violins or some other stringed instrument in the background, coupled with the lead singer and the other singers voices to make this a song to remember.

Which is probly why it's titled Classic....they knew everyone would love it!

great song. | Reviewer: lisa | 8/6/2004

Alright, well if you checked up these lyrics you know Taking back sunday totally rocks, so thats a plus! It's a really emotional song, theres obviously two singers because one hits the high notes and backround and the other one sings normally.(thats what i think) The guitar and music is sensationally slow, so if you want to cry about anything, perfect song!
It's great! And I love it so hope you do too.

this song is really, really amazing. The music in the background is just so amazing. The guitar and volins are great. The lyrics are awesome and the voice's are just so soothing. Seriously it's AMAZING.
