Stevie Wonder Never Dreamed You'd Leave in Summer Lyrics

Last updated: 07/17/2014 11:41:33 PM

I never dreamed you'd leave in summer
I thought you would go then come back home
I thought the cold would leave by summer
But my quiet nights will be spent alone

You said there would be warm love in springtime
That is when you started to be cold
I never dreamed you'd leave in summer
But now I find myself all alone

You said then you'd be the life in autumn
Said you'd be the one to see the way
No, I never dreamed you'd leave in summer
But now I find my love has gone away

Why didn't you stay?

Heart breakingly true | Reviewer: Michael berg | 7/17/14

Anyone who has lost a lover, a spouse, or even a pet can relate to this song. It just happens to be summer but it can be any season or any year. Heartbreak is heartbreak. We have all experienced it and late at night we cry.

"Time". | Reviewer: Keithmcloughlin | 11/7/10

This song takes your heart on a journey that touches your soul and releases oceans of love from your heart for loved ones here and gone..It reminds me of falling deeply in love and losing my love to face the world alone, such a cold and fragile time in my life..Just like the seasons that pass so do we all,but did nt we all have a wounderful time when they came...

R.I.P. Daddy | Reviewer: Liyah | 10/8/09

I absolutely love this song. The first time I heard it I was watching the movie Poetic Justice and it just captivated my spirit although I was only a child at the time. Now, when I hear it I think of my cousin and my daddy. Both of them left me in the summer. They were only six weeks apart. R.I.P Daddy, & R.I.P Chris. Truly, I never dreamed you'd leave in summer.

The first time I heard this song, I was at home watching Michael Jackson's memorial on television. When Stevie Wonder performed, it was so heart warming and heart breaking that i actually cried. It's one of those songs that captivates you and momentarily takes you out of your own life to someplace else.

One of my favs | Reviewer: Anita | 2/5/05

This song is one of my all time favorites. It says what it means without getting into a long drawn out song and it touches you right to the heart. Sigh. That's how you can tell a genious from a songwriter...
