If I didn't know better, I would have thought Neil wrote this song for my wife. | Reviewer: Wayne
------ About the song I am ... I said performed by Neil Diamond

My wife's name is Leland. She was born in Staten Is. NY on 1/24/45. Neils birthday. She lived with her family in NY until she married me in 1968 and moved to L A and raised our family. Every time I listen to this song it seems totally about her. I think that her being a girl makes it even more sensitive. She was lost between two shores for many years. We have been to many of Neils concerts and are life long fans.

------ About the song Brother Love's Travelling Salvation Show performed by Neil Diamond

My dad used this song to teach me two part harmony. He played a lot of Neil Diamond and felt he was the perfect musician. I know this man is amazing and this song will always be a reminder of my dad can't hear it or sing it without tears. Neil Diamond literally was part of me growing up.

------ About the song Brother Love's Travelling Salvation Show performed by Neil Diamond

there once was a time when music meant something, when words were clear and sweet and reminded you of what is good in life...and actually required talent to produce. Neil Diamond was an artist and a musician of unparallelled caliber...if you can listen to "Brooklyn Roads" without a tear trying to come up in your eye, you have no emotion.

------ About the song I am ... I said performed by Neil Diamond

I understand the analogy to Neil's own life, but for me the part in particular that resonates with me is "And no one heard at all
Not even the chair"

The inner heart-ache just touches me deeply. I've been in a situation like that and its not pleasant at all; The furniture represents the random people you come into contact with on a day to day, (e.g work colleague)whom are no help when you feel at your lowest, and if family members are emotionally distant it just emphasises the pain.

This song helped me to deal with my emotions properly. Sometimes I overthink and depress myself further. This song on the other hand is 100% Empathy. It reminds me that whatever issues I'm facing that it will all work out ok in the end (the old addage "If its not ok, its not the end") It reminds me that its ok to feel sad -Its a natural emotion.

I just want to thank Neil Diamond for writing this, its helped make some of the darkest days a whole lot better for me.

He talks about a frog who dreamed of being a King. This is his personal story of moving to LA to find fame and fortune and leaving the close knit ties behind where he was accepted for who he was. Didn't matter if he was "just Neil" back home - and he had immeasurable wealth in the love of his family, friends, etc.
This is what I took away here....such a great song...we moved here in June glad I go to stay with the grandparents every summer and still go to family home every year to see all the cousins aunts uncles - love them dearly. LA went to the dogs....

------ About the song I am ... I said performed by Neil Diamond

Whoever wrote the 08/08/12 review succintly hit it on the head. I felt exactly the same way for three years in California during the mid 70s. It was like Neil Diamond was singing the song for me.

------ About the song The Story Of My Life performed by Neil Diamond

I first made this song on a tape for our 38 anniversary; my wife was in the hospital them,
I find the tape after my wife passed away in December, almost to our 58th anniversary,
So it was destined to be the story of our life.

------ About the song Shilo performed by Neil Diamond

I've always thought that this was Neil Diamond's most underrated song and it affected me deeply when it came out. Funny though, the second verse listed here has the lyrics from the single, but the album version appears to have lyrics a bit different. I like the single version (1969) better.

------ About the song Hell Yeah performed by Neil Diamond

Given that from this person whose name and bloodline does not match songs content about Brother Love's traveling and so forth (I believe Neil like Neil Armstrong must be a brother from a Jewish faith line?) and given that My favorite Song of his is, September Morn(ing) song i would say it is a pure Existentialist song with, cute slang meanings of the words like hell, etc. In my lyrics writing I evade groups of terminologies trying to make things clear, decent and meaningful rather than Dennis De Young did same analogy in a different way in his later solo album that parts of context seemed somewhat changed opinion from say, Suite Madam Blues writing (greatest work of Styx commendable beyond Stairway to Heaven of Led Zeppelin that had semi libertarian meanings in a folk poetry manner or, war pig story of the Black Sabbath. Thus, to convey a satire in his response for his love of life I could humbly state "Jesus Fitzgerald Kennedy" © it was a naughty honest and, leading song to state one needs to keep hir time intact for purposeful moments.
