neely o'hara is a character in the film ''valley of the dolls'' i think. and she basically has a pill/alcohol addiction. great song though, i can also see how some people think it relates to an eating disorder.

this song hits me in the most personal way. while I can see it being about eating disorders, for me it's about drug addiction and depression, and how you completely lose sight of yourself. you don't even remember how you used to be, just that you weren't always like this.

For me this is pretty obviously about someone suffering from an eating disorder. Throwing up water, losing color in the face, and the talk of mirrors...

"Do you think that someone paints your mirror?"

This is one of my favorite lines... when someone with and ED looks in the mirror, they see imperfections. Even when all of their ribs are showing and they look like a skeleton, anywhere where there's not a bone poking through is too fat. It's like someone is painting their mirror.
