Northern Downpour Lyrics
Artist(Band):Panic! At The Disco
Review The Song (13)Print the Lyrics
If all our life is but a dream
Fantastic posing greed
Then we should feed our jewelry to the sea
For diamonds do appear to be
Just like broken glass to me

And then she said she can't believe
Genius only comes along
In storms of fabled foreign tongues
Tripping eyes, and flooded lungs
Northern downpour sends its love

Hey moon, please forget to fall down
Hey moon, don't you go down

Sugarcane in the easy mornin'
Weathervanes my one and lonely

The ink is running toward the page
It's chasin' off the days
Look back at boat feet
And that winding knee
I missed your skin when you were east
You clicked your heels and wished for me

Through playful lips made of yarn
That fragile Capricorn
Unraveled words like moths upon old scarves
I know the world's a broken bone
But melt your headaches, call it home

Hey moon, please forget to fall down
Hey moon, don't you go down

Sugarcane in the easy mornin'
Weathervanes my one and lonely
[x3]

Sugarcane (hey moon) in
(Hey moon) the easy mornin'
Weathervanes (hey moon) my
(Hey moon) one and lonely

Sugarcane (hey moon) in (hey moon)
The easy (hey moon) mornin'
Weathervanes (hey moon) my (hey moon)
One (hey moon) and lonely

[Continues in background:]
Sugarcane (hey moon) in (hey moon)
The easy (hey moon) mornin'
Weathervanes (hey moon) my (hey moon)
One (hey moon) and lonely

Hey moon, please forget to fall down
Hey moon, don't you go down
You are at the top of my lungs
Drawn to the ones who never yawn
[x2]

Review about Northern Downpour

Why bother with simple words? ;) | Reviewer: Kaityline | 10/15/09

I agree, this is a tribute to love and simplicity. Ryan is amazing and will be my favourite lyricist :) But it's sad because this is the last song they recorded together and then they split...hmmm stupid Ryan and Jon, being primaddonas :D nah jk i love 'em and maybe all they need is break from P!ATD?? Oh well, time can tell :( Lol I sing the 'feed our jewerly to the sea/for diamond appear to be just like broken glass to me' line to my family when theyre being greedy *giggle*
peices out
xx

Northern Downpour | Reviewer: Fan | 9/2/09

I think there is no doubt of drug references in here. But I really don't think it matters what Ryan wanted the song to mean, because no one will ever know. Either way it's a great song and I think it can mean a million different things to the millions of people who listen to it.

Materialistic?? | Reviewer: Katy | 7/26/09

They don't have to be materialistic to be in the music world. That is their surroundings, and they don't have to blend. Also, who says that's even what they're saying? If you don't like the band, don't review their song. It's that simple.

Love this song | Reviewer: R | 6/27/09

I really love this song and I love with all my soul sings how Ryan, is beautiful (L). I dont know very well what this song, just hope it will not be on drugs because that would seem terrible to me ...

Im from Argentina, so if you have many spelling errors sorry (:

greedy | Reviewer: Anonymous | 6/21/09

Who says that they meant it? And who leads a life thats different? Saying a song has to mean this or that and a band sucks is arrogant and stupid. music is art. and art is - easy said two things: interpretative und personal. art can't suck. it's not good or bad its IT. and it has ALWAYS more than only one possible meaning and non above it all truth

Hypocrits | Reviewer: Anonymous | 5/24/09

If these guys are actually trying to say that we should all lead an existence free from materialistic greed, then that's pretty damn disgusting if you ask me. For the love of God, they're a band!!! How can you possibly NOT be in the music industry without being greedy and leading a materialistic life? Panic! At the Disco sucks.

Not Your Average Song | Reviewer: Sami | 5/12/09

I especially love this song because its simple yet deep. The words to it can mean so many things to different people yet only Ryan knows what it truely means. Yeah a lot of your comments make a lot of sense to interpret what this song means but maybe he writes these types of lyrics so anybody could make anything of it no matter what it really talks about. Thats just his style simple yet complex.

Northern Downpour | Reviewer: Taylor | 12/22/08

I love how in the Music video for this song every now in then some of the lerics pop up on objects, I love this song. But don't you think there is a MAJOR change to their music comparied to... say the song "I write Sins not tradgetys" Though I like them eather way!

i love this song | Reviewer: kat | 11/7/08

ok i kno the line "I missed your skin when you were east" has everything to do with ryan ross' girlfriend. cuz he lives in las vegas and she lives in new york. if u look on a map new york is east of las vegas. so he misses her...a lot.

lmao this song is not about ryan ross doing drugs | Reviewer: really now | 11/3/08

this is song is ross's ode to his girlfriend, it has nothing to do with cheating or doing drugs to kill the pain. it's about leading a peaceful, loving existence and scorning materialistic values.
