My Woman From Tokyo Lyrics - Deep Purple
Review The Song (1)
Fly into the rising sun,
Faces, smiling everyone
Yeah, she is a whole new tradition
I feel it in my heart
My woman from Tokyo
She makes me see
My woman from Tokyo
Shes so good to me
Talk about a Leica queen
Dancing in a eastern dream
Yeah, she makes me feel like a river
That carries me away
My woman from Tokyo
She makes me see
My woman from Tokyo
Shes so good to me
But Im at home and I just dont belong ...
So far away from the garden we love
She is what moves in the soul of a dove Oo...
Soon I shall see just how black was my night
When we're alone in her city of light
Rising from the neon gloom
Shining like a crazy moon
Yeah, she turns me on like a fire
I get high
My woman from Tokyo
She makes me see
My woman from Tokyo
Shes so good to me 2X
My woman from Tokyo 5X then fade
Faces, smiling everyone
Yeah, she is a whole new tradition
I feel it in my heart
My woman from Tokyo
She makes me see
My woman from Tokyo
Shes so good to me
Talk about a Leica queen
Dancing in a eastern dream
Yeah, she makes me feel like a river
That carries me away
My woman from Tokyo
She makes me see
My woman from Tokyo
Shes so good to me
But Im at home and I just dont belong ...
So far away from the garden we love
She is what moves in the soul of a dove Oo...
Soon I shall see just how black was my night
When we're alone in her city of light
Rising from the neon gloom
Shining like a crazy moon
Yeah, she turns me on like a fire
I get high
My woman from Tokyo
She makes me see
My woman from Tokyo
Shes so good to me 2X
My woman from Tokyo 5X then fade

To me this song is one of the best, if not thee best of the so called classic rock era, 68 thru 74? Ian Gillan's voice is in top form and he was never really given props for being a great vocalist. I guess maybe you could say that the whole band was never given it's due, Particularly this lineup. The drumming of the other Ian in the band, Ian Paice is almost mesmerizing. Listen to the way he uses the cymbals at the start and during the haunting sounding bridge which sends you into an eastern dream and then with a sudden explosion of Blackmore's guitar and Lord's organ takes you back into the neon gloom. I assume it is also Jon Lord who is playing the piano during the closing refrains. Fantastic song that sounds agood today as it did in 1973.
