My Sweet Shadow Lyrics
Artist(Band):In Flames
I'm selling heavenly sketches
a world out of my mind
ready to explode in purity
to fill the holes inside
an ever moving stream
with glowing rays of light
emotions tied to past lies
and I know I should let go
tame with confidence of a brighter future
I found a flame in the burnt out ashes... burn out, burn out
[Chorus]
fueled these new shores burn
dark past lies cold
shadow, my sweet shadow
no one loves you
another dawn collapses
do I need to be reminded?
a glimpse of my safe home
a path to hide all anger
I found a flame in the burnt out ashes... burn out, burn out
[Chorus]
fueled these new shores burn
dark past lies cold
shadow, my sweet shadow
no one loves you
in circles I catch
a torch carried by the immortal
from depths that I created
in vain echoes fade-fade-fade
burn out
[Chorus x2]
fueled these new shores burn
dark past lies cold
shadow, my sweet shadow
no one loves you
to you
dark past lies cold
no one loves you
FUELD!

Review about My Sweet Shadow
Without a doubt, my favorite song. | Reviewer: Anonymous | 4/23/09
The synth in this song used through the chorus and the outtro stay in my mind for weeks. Cant believe I forgot In Flames for a while. Im rediscovering this band again and what made me love them. This is without a doubt my favorite song..
WOW | Reviewer: JAMES | 4/21/09
I am new to listening to IF but I am loving them so far. This song really seems to me to be about wanting to move on but how something from the past will not be forgotten/ let go/ resolved:
"an ever moving stream
with glowing rays of light
emotions tied to past lies
and I know I should let go"
and how he really wants at the end for it to be done and over:
"n circles I catch
a torch carried by the immortal
from depths that I created
in vain echoes fade-fade-fade
burn out"
What it is specifically is left to the opinion of the viewer but wow I love the depth!

i saw them live a couple months ago. It blew my fucking mind you have no idea. On the rail front row! Ive been to a lot of rock concerts and this was by far the best. Runners up are trivium and slipknot and all that remains.

Like many have said before, this song is just out of this world... I get goosebumps throughout the entire song, its simply perfection.
The energy and emotion in this song are just fucking incredible.
Also, i dont play their recorded songs much. Instead i have collected almost all of their live performances, cause its sooooo much better live.
You should hear them play My Sweet Shadow live in Hammersmith, it will blow your mind.
In Flames | Reviewer: john | 11/25/08
I personally liked Reroute to Remain best (and Whoracle of course), I don't belive in 'new' or 'old' In Flames, it's all the same, but a band changes in periods of time and they change their music too and how they feel about it. Some people directly hate 'new' In Flames just for changing their style, don't be like that (tho I'm not saying all of you do), respect the band and respect their decisions. Don't say something like 'they started to suck after Reroute' or 'they've lost their true sound' It's Anders, Bjorn, Jesper, Peter and Daniel like always (well this kind of line-up since Colony I think), they're all good guys. Well anyway, this song is pretty good!

I personally think In Flames have lost their brightness since they made Reroute to Remain. Clay Man was to good to believe and they've filled the next records with songs that many groups could have dropped out easily. Nothing new. But in all those records after Clay Man there are some songs that are simply brutal in amazing like this one. I listen ot it over and over againIt's stuck in my mind. I hope future CDs from this great band will be full of tracks like this one. Please!
Goosebumps XD | Reviewer: Simon | 11/8/08
This song is just perfection.
A mixed melodic, metallish and guitarish sound that comes across perfectly well and each sound making the other sound better...
Coming to the lyrics, Anders' voice is totally incredible. Everytime I hear just in front of the choruses: "Burn out, burn out" I get goosebumps. No matter where I am, what I am doing and what I am thinking. Always these goosebumps. It's such an incredible, massive and powerful sound of it that makes me get goosebumps even by thinking of it...
I don't know what message his trying to send us with this text. All I know is that it's a supersweet, superbadass, super In Flames song which I'll probably listen to forever and ever.
Coming to the previous review; "You have never heard In Flames before hearing them live." is definately true. I haven't heard them live... But I will, in a nearby future...
Good, but In Flames still drooping | Reviewer: Anonymous | 8/27/08
I like this song, but I don´t agree that this is the better In Flames´ song, actually I think that In Flames is drooping since the album "Reroute to remain". I respect all the ways of thinking, but, I don't like the "New In Flames (Since Reroute to Remain, 2002)".
I think In Flames had got better songs, including music and lyrics in the old era (finished with post-clayman albums)... My favourite songs are Jotun, Suburban me, Embody the invisible, Jester script transfigured and Moonshield... in those songs I feel the power and the mysticism that In Flames lost... I miss the powerful growl vocals of Anders, the harmonized guitars and the surrealist lyrics of the old era.
Oh My God!! | Reviewer: Anonymous | 8/18/08
When i First Heard This Song, I was totally lown away y the amazing music and even better singing - it has a mix of quiet, harmony metal, but with a twist of pure In Flames makes this my favourite In Flames song EVER!!!
Long Live In Flames =D
