I fear you might have read to much into this song.. Russia. I am pretty sure it is about how older people don't get youth culture. Hence he hopes he dies before he gets to the age where he also looks down on those in their youth. This song is great because it invokes powerful feelings in young people and allows the older folk to remember their glory days.

No body especially Kelley understands the deeper meaning of this song.It is really about the socialist uprising in the 1960s Urope. When he says People try to put us d-down he is really means The Russians are trying to corrupt the Urope. And awful cold is literal so is baby at the end
