Mookie's Last Christmas (Acoustic) Lyrics - Saosin

Review The Song (1)

From throat and eyes
Came winter and reason
and I'm told carry on
Sad overwhelms
My senses drown
and oh I feel dependent
Feeling that you were honestly gone
I can't shake it...
Make the same mistake twice
Bursts of red to green all over me
Freeze the things that you've loved
and I should let it fold over and over.
We count the days left,
And 23 is all I know
Honestly, can I be protected
With you suddenly gone
sponsored links
Feeling like you were honestly gone
I can't shake it...
Make the same mistake twice
Bursts of red to green all over me
Freeze the things that you've loved
and I should let it fold over and over.
Over and over,
Over and over,
Make the same mistake twice
Bursts of red to green all over me
Freeze the things that you've loved
'Cause I should let it fold over
Make the same mistakes twice
Bursts of red to green all over me.

The lyrics are about Saosin guitarist Justin Shekoski's father, who died in a car accident. It happened on a Christmas tour, hence the title. 'Mookie' is the name of Anthony's dog.

The track was not featured on Translating the Name but it was included on a compilation album, A Santa Cause: It's a Punk Rock Christmas. An acoustic version was included on Saosin's live album, Come Close
This song is a big fan favorite and there has been a lot of discussion about the lyrics.
