Modern girls always have to go (you were right)
Old-fashioned men always want a mistress(right on time)
Modern girls always get their way (you were right)
Modern men dream of what they can't say (i was wrong)
That's alright
I don't belong
Why you gotta say it if you know it's something wrong?
Says that he'll apologize and it won't take too long
Well you don't wanna trust nobody else
(Time)
There's a few things that are gonna have to change
(I'm your son)
Everyone has the same opinion
(Won't you please?)
Your time is almost over
(Don't be mean)
We won't get the chance to do this over
That's alright
I don't belong
I don't want the imprint of your key upon my nose
You don't have to tell no one 'cause no one wants to know
That you don't have no happiness at all
Oh yes we're falling down (Oh yes we're falling down)
Oh yes we're falling down (Oh yes we're falling down)
Oh yes we're falling down (Oh yes we're falling down)
Oh yes we're falling down (Oh yes we're falling down)
Oh yes we're falling down (Oh yes we're falling down)
Oh yes we're falling down (Oh yes we're falling down)
Oh yes we're falling down (Oh yes we're falling down)
So fucking help me up
Always thinking bout yourself
You don't love me
I am an animal
I am not practical

Review about Modern Girls and Old Fashioned Men Absolutely great. | Reviewer: Anonymous | 10/23/09
Being a kid who was immediattly introduced into the good ol music of the past, ie. The Cure, The Pixies etc. The Strokes really speak to me. This song is just amazing and definitly one of my favorites, and Regina and Julians voices are pretty much the perfect match, which was already stated in the past comments.

The music is almost trancing, and the vocals compliment each other endlessly.
It's wonderful to review a song that isn't so mainstream and is so very expressive.
A++
I love this song SO much. Regina is just beautiful, and The Strokes are just amazing. I'm a HUGE Regina fan, though. OMG. I love it.
A treasure | Reviewer: Anonymous | 3/9/06
This duet is a treasure for avid Strokes fans -The song is put together through the hauntingly beautiful vocals which form a sort of conversation on parts between the male (Julian) and the female (Regina) vocal styling. The lyrics on this site are fairly accurate with some missing parts. This song is likely to be on the 'heart in a cage' single; it, along with some others off the FIRST IMPRESSIONS disc, serve as the much anticipated departure from the more established strokes sound. An A+...

This is a beautiful tune. Don't listen to it if you've recently had your heart ripped apart, unless you want flush the emotion out. Regina's vocals are gorgeously modern and very tender. As stated, her and Julian's vocals complement each other strikingly well. Needles over lava. Without question it is among the Strokes' 3 or 4 best songs.

Unfortunately the lyrics are wrong at some parts, or then I've got some other version of the song. Anyway I love the song. It's the best.
