One of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. Nobody could sing it like Mathis did. I am one of the few males around not afraid to admit how good Johnny Mathis is. Its sort of a macho thing to just denounce him out of hand.

He has one of the most beautiful singing voices there is.

this is a libretto that fits the song, the melody.

it doesn't fit easily into it's musical straightjacket but there is enough room to allow interpretation to fit the bill.

mathis just velvets the whole thing.
