Midnight Show Lyrics - The Killers
Review The Song (11)
I know what you want
I wanna take you a midnight show tonight
If you can keep a secret
I got a blanket in the back seat on my mind
And a little place that sits beneath the sky
She turned her face to speak
But no-one heard her cry
Drive faster, boy
Drive faster, boy
I know there's a hope
There's too many people trying to help me cope
You got a real short skirt
I wanna look up, look up, look up, yeah yeah
We were just in time
Let me take a little more off your mind
There's something in my head
Somewhere in the back said
We were just a good thing
We were such a good thing
Make it go away without a word
But promise me you'll stay
And fix these things I've hurt
Oh make it go away!
Drive faster, boy
Drive faster, boy
Oh crashing tide can't hide a guilty girl
With jealous hearts that start with gloss and curls
I took my baby's breath beneath the chandelier
Of stars in atmosphere
And watch her disappear
Into the midnight show...
Oh faster, faster, faster...
Oh no no no no no...
If you keep a secret
Well baby... you can keep a secret
If you keep a secret...

the murder trilogy is legit. sweet stuff by brandon and the killers but mr. brightside is in there at the end when he gets out of jail for the murder ("comin' out of my cage"). This song is probably the deepest of the four though. Aside from the murder, the song emits an intense love from the guys point of view. read the lyrics thinking about sex and it still makes sense in most parts. (I mean "drive faster boy"...that's sex) Kinda gives you a sense that extreme passion can blend together sometimes and pleasure and pain arent so different after all. Haunting is what it is.

it goes leave the bourbon on the shelf, midnight show, jenny was a friend of mine. leave the bourbon on the shelf is where he finds his woman with another man. midnight show his about the actual murder and taking her to the place to dump her body, the ocean. jenny was a friend of mine is about him being asked about it, like an interrogation. im almost positive hes admitting to it but saying it was justified. or he was saying how she died in his arms and telling this whole alibi. im not sure about jenny was a friend of mine

this song is part of what people call "the murder trilogy". Listen to the song Leave the bourbon on the shelf, then check out jenny was a friend of mine. Then listen to this one. You can see the story thats being told and they make more sense.
I think it's about... | Reviewer: Kina | 1/17/08
While lsitening to this song, I couldn't help but think it was about two dinosaurs playing Monopoly.
"Of stars in atmosphere
And watched her disappear
Into the midnight show..."
That is clearly about how one dinosaur is accusing the other of stealing money from the bank because he was the banker.

i luv brandon!!!!!! | Reviewer: Anonymous | 9/30/07
this song is stuck in my head! i think the concept is a boyfriend finding out his gf cheated so he takes her out without her knowing her fate. like when he says "But promise me you'll stay
And fix these things I've heard" he has only heard these things he is jealous. who would cheat on him!!!
murder | Reviewer: John | 8/17/07
Both this song and "Jenny Was a Friend of Mine" are about a jealous murder. In "Jenny" the guy is being questioned about it.

Someone told me this song was about murder. It makes sense when you look at the lyrics-"I took my baby's breath beneath the chandelier...and watcher her disappear." He took her breath literally, as in he ended her life and she breathes no more-she disappears because she's dead. He sounds like the jilted lover you really don't want to piss off!
Rips your heart out... | Reviewer: Jacquie | 5/24/07
This song actually sounds like he wanted the girl so badly and in so many ways, and he ends up having sex with her in the back seat of his car, but she just disappears after that, but she said she loved him so he is left heartbroken after she leaves because it didnt mean the same to her as it did to him...Thats just my take on it. I could be completely wrong.
