Metal Lyrics - Nine Inch Nails
Review The Song (9)
We're in the building where they make us grow
And I'm frightened by the liquid engineers
My mallory heart is sure to fail
I could crawl around the floor just like I'm real
The sound of metal I want to be you
I should learn to be a man
Plug me in and turn me on
Ah, everything is moving now
I need my treatment it's tomorrow they send me
Singing "I am an American"
Picture this if I should make the change
I'd love to pull the wires from the wall
sponsored linksDid you?
And who are you and how could I try?
Here inside I like the metal
All I know is no one dies
I'm still confusing love with need

....it truly is amazing. I don't think you can really appreciate it unless you get to see it performed. There are recordings out there now from this past tour. I recommend that anyone reading this hit Youtube.
Here inside I like the metal don't you? | Reviewer: Mortell | 11/17/07
I love this song. It's better than GN's original. They are both good but Trent took the cheesy 80's synth away and replaced it with what makes NIN god like. Trent seems to understand the song well and makes it his own. GN is pretty bad a$$ but Trent should have written this song first.
Amazing Song! | Reviewer: Scott | 10/18/07
So, I didn't pick up Things Falling Apart for a while since it's not a very well-known NIN album. But I have to say, this song makes me VERY happy I did so. It's my favorite song on the CD, and one of my favorite NIN songs. Period. It's a little disappointing to know it's just a cover, but it's such a good song...

As a huge NIN fan, and a huge Numan fan, this should have been either heaven or hell for me.
As it is, I'm stuck halfway with it.
The expression in Trent's vocals *is* cool, and it's a fair redition, but there's something missing.
Maybe the bass is too quiet in the mix, maybe it's just a little bit too much like the original, but whatever it is, it just misses the mark.
Have a listen to the Numan version to see what I mean.
Awesome Song! | Reviewer: Justin May | 7/26/07
I just discovered this song over the weekend and I love it. Didn't know it was a cover and don't really care. I love this version of it. NIN rules!
GREAT song | Reviewer: TinDefacto | 6/8/07
I LOVE this song. cover, yes, but still it is great. I've never heard the original but who cares. this is why I love NIN.

A cover of a Gary Numan song. There's nothing wrong with covers, but it isn't even a good remix of Metal. It certainly has a new industrial feel to it, but Trent should have left this one where it was.
unique - crunk song | Reviewer: YinGSane | 10/21/04
This is one of those songs that make me love Nine Inch Nails. It's unique, I love the lyrics, and it comes off pretty mainstream, even though some elements of the song are unique to this type of music and NIN's style.
