Melvins are a three piece right now, the current members
are Buzz Osborne (King Buzzo) who plays guitar and sings
his given first name is Roger so I've heard, Dale Crover
who plays drums, and Kevin Rutamanis who plays bass. The
Melvins formed in Aberdeen, WA(the town Nirvana came from
as well) in the early 80's the founding members were Buzz,
Mike Dillard (drums), and Mudhoney bassist Matt Lukin.
Buzz, Mike, and Matt all went to high school in Montesano.
When Mike couldn't cut it because the songs were getting
too mathematically complex Dale was recruited out of the
Iron Maiden cover band he played in at the age of 15. Matt
was replaced by Lorax (Shirley Temple's daughter) when they
left Aberdeen for San Francisco. The name Melvins came from
a grocery clerk at the More...

------ About the song Honey Bucket performed by Melvins
it's just what you want and hope a metal song is gonna be.
no metal tune has ever been as super good as this minute and 53 second bombastic aria of complete brilliance. I saw the video one time on mtv's Head Bangers Ball, and crapped my pants. Later i went on a search for the album that it might be on, only recently having found it... some 10 aquisitions later! Oh man, i went throught the ringer looking for that one damn song.
I play it almost daily.
i didn't even know who the melvins were, but it kicked my ass. That riff in the middle is glorious.
a glimpse of sheer perfection. a diamond.
not really sure if there ARE real lyrics to it though. i mean i always heard "8 times i fell on 4/5, now i go for cast and clean." meaning, whatever this thing is, probably a car or something, or a phantasmagorical abstraction of a car like device, i'm supposing that he had 8 cars, all meeting only four out of five requirements. all dungheeps. Then he gets this one, and it's "cast and clean". Of course, we are imposing factual meaning to real art, which of course, if done well, at first appears alien.

------ About the song Porg performed by Melvins
This song is the aural equivalent to sitting in an uncomfortable social situation like a bullshit fireworks show. Only you have a straightjacket on and thye won't let you move. I hate alot of people asnd this song helps me with that!

I envision an army of skeletons marching through the apocalypse ridden strreets of cell phone whores and useless stores when I hear this epic song. Proof The Melvins are the only band worth hearing. This song will clutch your soul
SICK SONG | Reviewer: Dillon
------ About the song At The Stake performed by Melvins
like I said, this is better than anything MTV has ever come out with. And you know this. Also just a sick song altogether. I eat it up
Of all the songs I've heard in my 34 years of living, nothing makes the hair on the back of my neck rise & gives me the evil glint in my eye like Honey Bucket.
The blood starts thumping through my veins & I could so easily lose all control of sanity & submit myself to the uncontrollable animal instinct of response to music for my soul.
My arms flail, my knees tremble, my foot taps & my head wobbles, out of control, yet perfectly in time with this mad cacophany of noise...by the way, I play pretty good air-drums to this tune!
I truly believe it's a modern masterpiece.
I saw these guys play at the Tivoli in Adelaide, Australia in around 1995(??)- Hell, I think they played with DOA & No Means No (these guys are worthy of a whole story)- I never really recovered.
Honey Bucket- it's the shit

------ About the song Hooch performed by Melvins
This song was my first introduction into the world of the truly bizzare and classic grubge/hard rock music. And the lyrics? If only I had the know-how to make the most kickass jabberwocky tick-tock-clock-a rock around.

------ About the song Hooch performed by Melvins
This song was the main reason I got into the band. I first saw it on Beavis and Butthead and thought that it was one of the best songs that I have ever heard. The main riff is absolutely kickin' and the video that accompanies it is bizarre, but goes with the song very very well.
