Punk's premier cover artists, Me First and the Gimme Gimmes
are a conglomerate of some of the most recognizable faces
in new-school punk. Drawn together by a mutual love of '60s
and '70s music, the Gimme Gimmes work exclusively as a
cover band. Their repertoire include songs from such acts
as Neil Diamond, Billy Joel, and John Denver.
Singer Spike Slawson formed the Gimme Gimmes in 1996,
drawing in the talents of NOFX bassist Fat Mike, Lagwagon
singer/guitarist Joey Cape, No Use for a Name guitarist
Chris Shiflett, and Lagwagon drummer Dave Raun. Never
originally aiming to put out a record, the band made

------ About the song I Believe I Can Fly performed by Me First and the Gimme Gimmes
Me First and the Gimme Gimmes are an awesome cover band, because they take something
and they totally make it there own.
Not many musicians can take something that was already a #1 song, and improve it.
This song has so much spunk. I love it.

------ About the song Annie's Song performed by Me First and the Gimme Gimmes
I allways heard this song being sung to me by my boyfriend James, and we would allways laugh at it.
It was half becuse the song was so random, and half becuse he could'nt sing worth crap.
But, I heard the song on the raido before, and I heard the version by Me First and The Gimme Gimmes. I loved it!
It sounded so cool after I heard the good singing version!
Anyway, I love the song, its awesome!

------ About the song One Tin Soldier performed by Me First and the Gimme Gimmes
this song has been used time and again to use as a dedication to the soldiers who fight and die willingly for our freedom. without those soldiers, there would never be peace, and no one would be free to do what they please, many more people would have died. i honour them and this song.

They used this song in the movie "The Legend of Billy Jack" from the late 70's I believe. I thought the song was originally sung by Coven though? It is a great song and it sticks in your head for a long time.
