Beautiful, beautiful song. It describes someone you love leaving you so perfectly. It makes me think of the time where your loyalties haven't switched or waned and you still love someone so much even though they aren't part of your life anymore.

Concerning the lyrics, I think it's "till my hand shook the weight of fear", not sure though. The whole record is amazing, listen to "Five String Serenade", "Mary of Silence", etc.

This is the song that I pray will be playing when I leave this life, as I drift off I want to hear this angelic voice, just so amazing, having a magical effect on my mind like nothing ever before. I can see why Gears of War 3 plays this song during their television commercial advertisement. The whole commercial is first-person shooter warfare type of Xbox 360 actual gameplay (so awesome) yet the audio was silent for the game during the commercial and only the music is heard (location Hawaii). I had never heard this before and I just was so incredibly struck in awe.

I have an iPad2 and one of the most amazing and incredible apps is SoundHound (paid version) where I can replay the commercial on my DVR and upon doing so, I touch to start SoundHound to start listening. If it is a good clear audio that the microphone is picking up, the app only takes about 4 seconds to recognize the song and tell you what it is. And the song "Into Dust" by Mazzy Star has LiveLyrics where the lyrics automatically scroll exactly to the words in the song, basically like a karaoke machine. It is just amazing. You can also touch another button and just say "Into Dust by Mazzy Star" and it will instantly pull up their results with the ability to sample the music, and then purchase it on iTunes like I did. The SoundHound results page for Mazzy Star Into Dust has a number of music videos that you can play streaming online as well. Then that is how I found out just how amazingly beautiful this singer is, Hope Sandoval. Her intensely beautiful voice matches her intensely beautiful essence of being a person. I am sad that I am just now hearing about this band when it is after the fact. I'll catch up on her new band soon.

This is one of the most amazing songs I've ever heard. Very soft, slow, dark, angelic. I have now played it 14 times straight and don't plan on stopping any time soon.

I also just hear this song for the first time during the Gears of War3 commercial and all I can say is WOW! The commercial captivated my son and me and I am not even a gamer! While the action from the video game caught my sons attention, "he's 4!" the background music stuck in my head and had me humming the tune while working! Very nice song that will go into my playlist forever!

Like most people I came across this gem of a song on the TV when it was used in the UK as the backing track for the 'Gears of War 3' commercial. As soon as I heard it I was straight onto google to find out what it was then straight on to iTunes to download it. It's an absolutely superb song, the lyrics are amazing and Hope Sandovals hypnotically mournful voice brings me to my knees every time. Definitely going to look up the Mazzy Star back catalogue.

I don't know if the GoW commercial was shown worldwide or just here in the UK but its well worth a look as this song just dovetails into the action perfectly, it shouldn't but it works really well, it's on youtube under dust to dust trailer, pure genius and thats saying a lot coming from a dedicated PS3 fan.

I almost forgot about this song. Hope Sandoval and mazzy star came out when
I was in high school in the late 80's. And got very popular when I was in college in the early 90's. Mazzy star was a fav alt rock band of me and my friends. It seems that many hear who were prolly too young to remember them still like them today. They will always b a fav of mine.

This song is about heroin...she used to run with the velvet underground and massive attack, opal, etc...all great bands, many songs about shootin up, just read the lyrics...I guess if you don't get it you don't get it, haha

This song is so amazing that I've been loving it since it came out. Hope Sandoval has an a fantastic voice! She's the female version of Jim Morrision. I like all kinds of rock music and a few other types but this one never gets old. Great love song too.
