My girl went off to college after a year we were together, and I know there's a guy trying to win her over. I hear his name all the time when she calls, and it kills me. Everyday it seems like she's doubting more and more our strength while the other guy tests her. Sometimes she says she doesn't know how to take the things I say to her.

I think it's about a couple that have already broken up and are now friends but it's what would have been their 5th anniversary and all she just wants to ditch him. He really didn't think it would have ended, just having a break, hence "I thought with a month of apart, together we'd find us an opening". She's now with the guy she was cheating with and has apologized for what she's done but he can't seem to forgive her.

Most of these peoples stories/experiences are irrelevant to the song. You can never know how it feels unless you've felt the pain of losing the love of your life to someone else right under your nose for yourself. Ending a relationship or not starting it at all are hard, but nowhere near what cheating does to the one left behind.

This song really speaks to me. After going out for about 4 months, my boyfriend broke up with me for a stupid reason. He had a new girlfriend a WEEK later. I was mad and hurt, but I still had feelings for him. After a few months of us just being friends, I realized that... I love him. He told me 1 day that he couldn't stop thinkkng about me and that he felt like a jerk for dumping me. As much as I wanted him back, I knew he would only hurt me and I will just have to go on being miserable. I still love him and miss "the lips that made me fly."

in regards to the people wondering about Jason and Mayday Parade...

I don't claim to know the exact reason why he left Mayday. His dad was dying, so maybe he needed time off but he's now in a new band, so I don't think touring was the only reason. Anyway, Jason said so himself that there is no hard feelings between him and the band. He even performed Miserable At Best with Derek on a tour he had with Mayday. There's youtube videos up about it. There's also a Bryan Stars interview (type in Bryan Stars Jason Lancaster into youtube) where he talks about it a little. Don't be conformists and automatically hope for drama. Let music do what it should, and spread love. Thanks to any who took the time to read this.

i think that when hes sayin "please dont tell me that im dreaming, when all i ever wanted was to dream another sunset with you." hes sayin that this is better than anything he could ever dream of and that he doesnt want it to end.. i know i probably sound stupid sayin that buuut it made sense in my head :p
