Maybe
Oh if I could pray and I try, dear,
You might come back home, home to me.
Maybe
Whoa, if I could ever hold your little hand
Oh you might understand.
Maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe, yeah.
Maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe dear
I guess I might have done something wrong,
Honey I'd be glad to admit it.
Oh, come on home to me!
Honey maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe yeah.
Well I know that it just doesn't ever seem to matter, baby,
Oh honey, when I go out or what I'm trying to do,
Can't you see I'm still left here
And I'm holding on in needing you.
Please, please, please, please,
Oh don't you reconsider babe.
Now come on, I said come back,
Won't you come back to me!
Maybe dear, oh maybe, maybe, maybe,
Let me help you show me how.
Honey, maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe,
Maybe, maybe, maybe, yeah,
Maybe, maybe, maybe, yeah.
Ooh!
Maybe
Oh if I could pray and I try, dear,
You might come back home, home to me.
Maybe
Whoa, if I could ever hold your little hand
Oh you might understand.
Maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe, yeah.
Maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe dear
I guess I might have done something wrong,
Honey I'd be glad to admit it.
Oh, come on home to me!
Honey maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe yeah.
Well I know that it just doesn't ever seem to matter, baby,
Oh honey, when I go out or what I'm trying to do,
Can't you see I'm still left here
And I'm holding on in needing you.
Please, please, please, please,
Oh don't you reconsider babe.
Now come on, I said come back,
Won't you come back to me!
Maybe dear, oh maybe, maybe, maybe,
Let me help you show me how.
Honey, maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe,
Maybe, maybe, maybe, yeah,
Maybe, maybe, maybe, yeah.
Ooh!

I am only 14 years old, yet all the music from the scene of the 60s and 70s has had such an impact on my life. I discovered Janis Joplin through watching the film of the Woodstock Festival and then bought her albums. Just a brilliant song from a sixties legend.

Out of all the songs janis recorded, ''maybe'' has to be the song you can hear her pouring her heart and soul out into every word she sings. Im 26 and the first time I heard this recording I was ten years old, listening to my parents 45's on an old record player, I think music now has lost what janis brought to us back then, and my generation needs to open up and listen to what music was back then to appreciate it now. Janis was taken way too soon, but her music, her words, and her voice, will live forever
The Best Ever | Reviewer: Jack | 7/30/08
Janis gave us all of herself in her performances. She poured out her soul in this recording and held nothing back. For that reason, she has always been an inspiration to me.
I think this song is the best example. I'm 53 years old and have loved this song since I first heard it in 9th grade. For many years now it has been my all-time favorite song: my favorite recording by any artist, ever. I rarely hear it without wanting to hear it again, immediately. Obviously, it is not her most famous recording, but I have always wondered why it is not. Just listen to her heart, and listen again.
There is a live version of her doing this song, which is excellent, but not on a level with the studio version. Janis Joplin's recording is a cover version of a hit from the 1950's by The Chantels. If you listen to the original hit, you will experience one of many examples of how Janis Joplin could take someone else's material to a completely different level.
Love | Reviewer: Caterina | 5/26/08
I love Janis and I think that it is one of her best songs. In "Maybe" she prays a man to come back home to her, because she still loves him and she wants to apologise, she says "I guess I might have done something wrong,
Honey I'd be glad to admit it".
Janis believes in love. In all her songs she seems to be angry and sweet in the same time. She is the woman that every man would like to have, but she hasn't found true love yet.

I think that this song is really beautiful. I heard it on an episode of Tell Me You Love Me and fell in love with the sound.
