Maxwell Lyrics

With the sly, gurgling funk of "Get To Know Ya," the first
single from Now, Maxwell announces his return in sensual,
celebratory, terms. As a horn section punches in and out,
bobbing and weaving in counterpoint to his heartfelt
testimony, Maxwell signifies that for him, sexual
attraction involves understanding a woman, not objectifying
her. It's this kind of old-fashioned romantic attitude
fused with an utterly modern sound that's helped Maxwell
stand out in a crowded field of RnB soul men. And it's what
makes Now, his third More...

------ About the song Know These Things: Shouldn't You performed by Maxwell

This writting is soo spiritual..it expresses the conscienceness of a relationship..the expressed thoughts of being understood on such an unconscince level can be fulfilling and scary at the same time...to be seen in such a deep way, despite the amount of energy used to hide onesself, was seen, understood and appreciated by one who feels tooo.. LOVE IT...VERY NICE MAXWELL

Yes the first part is about her giving birth, but it is also a struggle birth...because the the second section she died in child birth and now he regrets all the things he missed telling her. It is one of the most beautiful songs to women.

My interpretation of this song is about life and not to take it for granted. If you have a boyfriend, girlfriend, husband, wife...tell them you love them and appreciate every moment you have with them.

------ About the song This Woman's Work performed by Maxwell

This song is brilliantly written. I can tell you that I've heard the song before a million times, and today i finally listened to it.

This song is seperated in to two parts.1st part (including the chorus) is about birth. How that to a man is a greatest gift. We all have mothers. The chorus (chorus after verse 1 if i can put it like that) is a continuation of the 1st part of the 1st verse (pray God you can cope, i'll stand outside) it explains the thoughts that goes through a man's mind whilst a woman is giving birth. (i should be crying but i just can't let it show) i should be strong for you cause i don't know what u go through but i know about your pain. (i should be hoping but i can't stop thinking...) thinking what if you don't make it? How i know this is a two part track is through the second verse. (give me these moments...give them back to me...) 1st verse was written about the past, 2nd verse is about the present. It's about the break up. Like, after all we've been through and you giving me a child, you're are giving up on us like that? Which introduces the second part of the chorus (second chorus of the second verse) is about not giving up on us just like you didn't give up on our child. I'm here for you.

Brilliantly written like poetry. Actually it is poetry. The metaphors and the contrast make this song. If you know poetry very well you'll understand what i mean.

------ About the song This Woman's Work performed by Maxwell

This song is amazing! It is one of those songs that never gets old and can be listened to time and time again. I thank Kate Bush for composing the song and Maxwell for renewing it. It does make you think a lot about life and it does make you appreciate it more. It reminds me of my first love and still my love of 5 years. I appreciate him more and more each time i listen to this song.
