This was the first single I ever purchased, back in 1968. I still remember arguing with the sales clerk that, no, I didn't want "Jumping Jack Flash", I wanted "My Name is Jack."
I also bought "White Room" by Cream.
Still love both tracks after all these years ;-)

For whatever reason I happened to wake up today and god only knows why but this song was stuck in my head, thats not altogether a bad thing but sometimes it can be quite annoying too. Having said that I do like this song and many more of Manfred Mann's as well.........

When I first heard this 1973 Classic on the Radio...I could never tell if it was the one that sang the 1964 Classic Do Wah Ditty Ditty, Pretty Flamingo or in 1968 The Mighty Quinn, Though As the Years went by Manfred Mann's Lyrics changed Dramatically among them the 1976 Classic Blinded By the Light, Spirits in the night, For You and in 1984 Ian Thomas's remake version of The Runner!!!

This song Joybringers sounded like The Christian Music movement was just getting started along with Debby Boones You Light Up my life among others that came out 3 Years later after this hit Joybringers...a beautiful song I must say that Manfred mann wrote and a hard to find classic as well!!!

I was born in 1966 - Have heard the song in my brain - I am Jack & I live in the back - since being a kiddie.
Have only now had the nuts to type these words into google. Weird - cause It was instantly familiar when I heard it - but know I havw never heard it before.

Go figure huh :)

i have been listening to this well over half my life (i am 14) and i just ended saying sounds that were similar to the actual words. Now i think i know some a bit better but it's more fun not knowing, right?

I can't believe this! Back in '72 I heard it on the Mike Douglas show. It was supposed to be in a film titled You Are What You Eat. But it was in the '70's so maybe I thought I heard it. I remember the video though. Cute little kid. All these years I thought I'd dreamed this up.

It was back in 1968 and four of us kids were chosen to go and sing in a studio with who turned out to be Manfred Mann. The song............"My Name is Jack"! We sang the chorus, although I think we ended up 'B' side, but at least we were on it. Would be great to locate the other 3 kids from back then. Anyone out there?

I've always loved the song,didn't realise until recently that Greta Garbo's home for wayward boys and girls was a hippy hotel in San Francisco.Bet it was great there!
