Barry Manilow Mandy Lyrics

Last updated: 01/23/2013 12:42:28 PM

I remember all my life
Raining down as cold as ice.
Shadows of a man,
A face through a window cryin' in the night,
The night goes into
Morning just another day;
Happy people pass my way.
Looking in their eyes,
I see a memory I never realized how happy you made me.

Oh Mandy well,
You came and you gave without taking,
But I sent you away.
Oh, Mandy well,
You kissed me and stopped me from shaking,
And I need you today.
Oh, Mandy!

I'm standing on the edge of time;
I've walked away when love was mine.
Caught up in a world of uphill climbing,
The tears are in my mind and nothin' is rhyming.

Oh Mandy well,
You came and you gave without taking,
But I sent you away.
Oh, Mandy well,
You kissed me and stopped me from shaking,
And I need you today.
Oh, Mandy!

Yesterday's a dream
I face the morning
Crying on a breeze
The pain is calling
Oh Mandy
Well, you came and you gave without taking
But I sent you away oh, Mandy
Well, you kissed me and stopped me from shaking
And I need you today Oh, Mandy
You came and you gave without taking
But I sent you away oh, Mandy
You kissed me and stopped me from shaking
And I need you

Just saw Barry telling the story behind the song! | Reviewer: Anonymous | 1/23/13

Oh dear. This totally creeps me out. I actually chose my name because of the song. I just saw a clip of an interview with Barry Manilow saying he never told anyone Mandy was the name of a DOG!

ageless song | Reviewer: phil silonda | 6/18/12

Barry's song is a timeless piece. melody and meaning it resonates deeply to those who let love pass them by and those who were left standing with love in their hearts not taken. Been standing for twenty four years with an unrequeited love. i'm still glad that this person came into my life sad that he did not take up what we had. I wouldn't change that time for anything as i stand single and fulfilled there was a time my heart came alive.
This song touches the heart like the song " Living next door to Alice by Smoky.

Angel | Reviewer: Silver Gold | 5/19/11

I first heard this song in the TV show ANGEL. Its "his" song and frankly it suits for Buffy is his "Mandy" anyway, to the point its the only song he sings when his future is read. I think it goes well with the serise and is beuatiful when you think of it in both ways.

*Generous* | Reviewer: Mandy Alvarez | 4/29/11

My name is Mandy. I have always hated my name for as long as i can remember. Today my coach mentioned this song to me. I just saw the lyrics to day and i love what they say. I have never said this but i am very generous of my name!!!

named | Reviewer: Mandy | 3/23/11

This has always been "my song" but that's because I was named after it. My Dad loved it, and after it was stuck in his head all day, and came home and saw my mom after work, all big and pregnant, he immediatly knew that would be my name. Thank god I was born a girl.

Love Mandy... just one of Barry's many beautiful songs. | Reviewer: Sandy | 11/5/10

Anything Barry Manilow sings is beautiful... Anything! Whenever I play this song and sing along with it I usually put my name "Sandy" in place of "Mandy"... OK, a girl can dream can't she? Barry is great in concert, and I listen to his music practically every day at home, in the car, whenever I get a chance, etc. When I have trouble falling asleep at night I play my CD of his wonderful love songs... they all remind me of certain phases of my life, certain years and people I was with, times I was alone, and so on. He's the greatest and his music will go on forever.

A Second Chance | Reviewer: Comfort W. | 9/1/09

I love this song so much. Not only because the the lyrics but also the extraordinary voice. It shows how human we are.... sometimes we do not actaully realise what we really have, until it slips away....... Did Mandy give him a second chance? I think he deserved just that!

i just finished singing this song out loud to myself. It sounded like a duet that i would have always loved to do with Barry.
Right after the song ended i felt teary eyed.My legs were shaking and i lost my voice. It was then i realised i was busting to go to the toilet.
Thanks Barry for all the memories.

Credit where it's due | Reviewer: Ronnie | 9/4/08

Without taking anything away from the melodic songs of Barry Manilow, it is a bit annoying to read all the thanks and acknowledgements he gets for the song Mandy. True, it has beautiful lyrics and a haunting melody, BUT, this song was released a few years before by the original (Scott English and Richard Kerr)who DID write both the lyrics and melody. All Barry Manilow had to do was change the name from Brandy to Mandy and re release it. Love the song, but please give all your thanks to the correct people.

Fantastic song | Reviewer: bonbon | 7/10/08

I first heard this song featured in one of the episodes in Family Guy, the melodies were so nice that I had to listen to it on the internet and after looking at the lyrics I just feel so lucky to be able to get to know Barry's songs.

Oh Me Oh My Oh Mandy | Reviewer: Anonymous | 3/5/08

The first time I heard this song was just after my great-great aunt Mandoline had just passed away at the tender age of 104. We loved Auntie Mandy and to this day I cannot hear this song without thinking of her soft peanut brittle. I know what you're thinking... peanut brittle isn't supposed to be soft. But, with Mandy it was. And that's also the power that Barry Manilow has. For years, my son was quite abusive to our family pet, Baxter. But one day I picked him from school with my Barry Manilow Greatest Hits album playing loudly. He immediately began sobbing as Barry melted his hard heart. Baxter was never kicked again. Thank you Barry, your legacy will live on forever.

Wedding song | Reviewer: Anonymous | 1/14/08

my daughter, who wasn't even born before Mandy was released, was on holidays in Thailand with her boyfriend. They were enjoying a romantic evening dinner when they were approached by 3 musicians in the restaurant.
"What would they like to hear?" "play anything you'd like" they answered.
The musicians sang a beautiful rendition of "Mandy". Would you believe that? It was during this song, listening to the lovely words and the very beautiful rendition of the song, looking into each other's eyes, that they realized they were in love.....deeply. My daughter was just married and recounted this story. Needless to say...Mandy is their song.

Tengo 41 años, soy argentina y crecí, me enamoré, lloré, fui feliz, con las hermosas melodías de Barry.
Pero, Mandy...siempre está ahí para recordarnos porqué los clásicos son clásicos...
