Marilyn Manson Man That You Fear Lyrics

Last updated: 12/18/2011 10:00:00 AM

ants are in the sugar
muscles atrophy
we're on the other side, the screen is us and we're t.v.
spread me open,
sticking to my pointy ribs
are all your infants in abortion cribs
I was born into this
everything turns to shit
the boy that you loved is the man that you fear
pray until your number,
asleep from all your pain,
your apple has been rotting
tomorrow's turned up dead
i have it all and i have no choice but to
i'll make everyone pay and you will see
you can kill yourself now
because you're dead in my mind
the boy that you loved is the monster you fear
peel off all those eyes, crawl into the dark,
you poisoned all your children to camouflage your scars
pray unto the splinters, pray unto your fear
pray your life was just a dream
the cut that never heals
pray now baby, pray your life was just a dream
(I am so tangled in my sins that I cannot escape)
pinch the head off, collapse me like a weed
someone had to go this far
I was born into this
everything turns to shit
the boy that you loved is the man that you fear
peel off all those eyes and crawl into the dark,
you poisoned all your children to camouflage your scars
pray unto the splinters, pray unto your fear
pray your life was just a dream
the cut that never heals
pray now baby, pray your life was just a dream
the world in my hands, there's no one left to hear you scream
there's no one left for you

"when all of your wishes are granted, many of your dreams will be destroyed.."

I think He's talking about Hitler (What he did to the Jews & the night he & his party were in their bunker & realized they had lost the war)... That was the night many of them killed themselves. "pray until your number" is referring to the numbers the Jews had tattooed on them... "Poison all your children to camoflauge your scars" is referring to Joseph Goebbels (who was part of Hitler's party) when he & His wife poisoned their 6 children and themselves that night.

Antichrist Superstar, Mechanical Animals, and Holy Wood are concept albumsand a trilogy. The story starts with Holy Wood when Brian is a teenager looking up to superstars and being poisoned by media and religion. Second, Mechanical Animals, is when he becomes a famous rockstar and his mind is altered by his drug use and ego. Finally is Antichrist Superstar, When he becomes something more than a star, he becomes a god, and is hell bent on destroying everything around him, including himself. That's the story, you guys need to read The Long Hard Road Out Of Hell.

He's reflecting on a part of him which still exists but is overshadowed by a much more dominant part. I.e Marilyn Manson (Dominant) | Brian Warner (The one in fear and who will have no one left to hear him scream|. So essentially his dying in side but apart of him is trying to escape but it's impossible because his tangled in the dominant (Sins), and without each other nothing exists because they are one.

It's a great song but difficult to take apart and analyze due to so much that happened in his life around that time. Best idea would be to ask Manson himself if you get a chance to meet him.

Okay! So I was totally thinking "The Lottery" at the end when I saw it. The video is obviously based off of it- but as for the song: it's chilling and wonderful. I feel for him because of his family, but if you think about it many different types of people every day face it.

love it | Reviewer: jonette | 4/22/10

Dude, it's an awsome song, depressing but that's why we listen to it. marilyn manson is a genius in every way. He can take us were we want to go with his music. He's laughing all the way to the bank. I was 15 when the man that you fear video came out on MTV. 29 years old now and still love this song and the video. lady gaga wishes she was marilyn manson!! just an observation of the times and copy cats of today.

True meanings | Reviewer: Superscar | 2/8/09

This song is such a heartbreaking song.
This song describes me so much.

If you had read the biography "Long hard road out of hell"
It describes what this song is about, it was the last song he wrote for the album, it describes what he became, what people feared and what he saw himself as

"The boy you loved is The man that you fear".

The album Antichrist Superstar (Antichrist Suvperstar) is about Marilyn Manson's rise to fame/The Worm's rise to be a God. If you follow the songs in order, the album ends on this song, when he's finally a God.
"The boy that you loved is the man that you fear" not only suggests that Marilyn Manson is changed from what he once was, but also suggests that the boy has become a god (man that many christians fear?).
Another strong allusion to this is "the world is in my hands". While this can be seen as an allusion to the fact that Manson is a star, this is also in following with the story about the boy's assention to a God.
As for the video, I haven't read "The Lottery" so I'm going to assume that it is based off of it, but it also follows with the story of the boy, he is chosen to die for man's sins, much like Jesus. Assuming we all know the story of Christ, you can see the parallels between the story and the video. His wife washing his feet before he leaves, the field of crosses, falling to his knees, and walking to his death, all parallels to the crucifixion of Christ. When Christ died, he became a God, and that is how the song ended. The song fits the video and the video fits the song, though the video isn't a perfect copy of the song.

MM is really a group of genius people | Reviewer: billy | 12/27/07

hi guys! i saw all yer comments most are too stupid too comment ... ha ha actually the song means that marilyn manson is a guy..and the girl with a covered head is what people just like to point out others without examinin' the reality..well the song has deep meaning inside which actually beyond yer brains... Brian wrote that song after gettin' ignored by relatives..i agree and video also tells us the same meaning look in the end all people pick up the stones to kill brian...and if u will see the parade you'll see that many are happy in it and many are not..that tellin' different natures of different people some happy to see someone goin' in the hands of death while some are depressed but both of them can only kill somehow ...lyrics tellin' samething the parents actually hide their guilts from kids...and make him monster and when he become monster they start fearin' from him...ha ha bottom line is that brian is really a genius..and the way he express the things few can do it...i hope you got the real meanin' behind the video and the song...bye bye everyone ROCK ON!!!!! i love Brian

i dont care who says what about brian warner he is a fucking genius and its saddens me that his family would treat him that way and people try to blame shit on him just because he's telling everyone how this shit really is ...(no sugarcoating) ...and thats the way it should be i glad he came out when he did and i fully support every track that man and band have done....

sad | Reviewer: erika | 11/26/07

I read his book. The lyric "the boy that you loved is the man that you fear" actually comes from his family's rejection of him. I remember him saying he came up with that when he went to his cousin Chad's wedding. He family feared and rejected him because of what he had become. He wasn't Brian Warner anymore. He was a stranger.

thank you | Reviewer: Anonymous | 11/15/07

this song is simply perfect. I started to listen to Manson 1 year ago. I think he is a very wise and gifted man. the thing that makes this song so deep and beautiful is that every word is true and he describes everything perfect. I hope you keep making music cause you give the hopeless hope. its not always that you can give me an answer, but you give me something to relate to. thank you

Like most of Marilyn Manson's Videos the song and Video both usually have a different message.
Example: Coma White.

The Video is loosely based off "The Lottery" a short story by Shirley Jackson.
The Song is a reflection about Manson's life and career, as well as his critics.

the end | Reviewer: lisa | 10/16/07

the only part worth mentioning that was left out was at the end when the distorted voice says, "when all of your wishes are granted, many of your dreams will be destroyed.." love that

re: what the songs about | Reviewer: hailey | 9/8/07

the song is about how he became the man he feared most in his childhood that who he was as a child is dead and he has killed his true self and become that which he hated and feared becoming

orly? | Reviewer: Red Blood | 6/17/07

So let me get this correct. It's a video about a group of misfits where their "strong bodied male alpha" is nothing more than a lepper and needs to be killed in order to preserve the group's strength in some way? I love this song but am having a hard time seing the exact message in it. Can someone help me here?
