Mama's Arms Lyrics - Joshua Kadison

Review The Song (3)

Going back to a tender age,
so full of confusion and rage,
Daddy says, "Boys, your Mama's gone."
There's a hand on your shoulder as you're throwing dirt,
someone says, "Time heals the hurt.
Little man, you got to keep on keepin' on,"
but all you want is Mama's arms.

You ride back home in a limosine,
the saddest car that you've ever seen,
your brother can not look you in the eye.
Lightning strikes, thunder roars,
an early winter in that heart of yours,
but you swear you won't let them see you cry
'cause all you want is Mama's arms.

The neighbors come and bring you pies,
endless words and futile sighs,
and you run up to your room and lock the door.
And there you are in your Sunday best,
the way your Mama would have had you dressed
and you realize it doesn't matter anymore
'cause all you want is Mama's arms.

'Round and 'round and 'round it goes.
The seasons change the young boy grows
to understand it's all part of some plan.
You used to wonder what it's all about.
Now those are questions you can do without.
You laugh them off and do the best you can
but all you want is Mama's arms.
All you want is Mama's arms.

the story of my life | Reviewer: dave | 2/6/10

iam 46 years old, my mother passed away when i was 12, i love this song, i
try to sing along with it but i start to cry, i also had the same feelings that are expressed in the song, i remember being mad that people seemed to be having fun and what i thought was a party atmosphere at the luncheon after the funeral service, now i realize that was part of a healing proceces , now that i am older i am proud to serve as the kitchen
coordinator at my church where i have with in the past 3 years have hosted
8 funeral lunches, i feel that this is god working in me to help me to keep my mothers spirt alive in my heart, all of these songs are heart felt ,keep singing and playing the piano. and thank you joshua for giving me your word to express my feelings

I am 20 years old and I just lost my mom to cancer two saturdays ago. This song is the soundtrack to my life. I remember hearing it when I was about 14 one time and telling myself that I would never listen to it again because it is so sad. However, when I was cleaning out some old stuff I found a CD player so I played it and it was Jashua Kadison. As I skip through the songs this one played and I could not turn it off. He has got every feeling right and describes every thing that I have felt.

Hi | Reviewer: anita | 4/12/07

I love this song. But whenever i listen to it, i start crying because it is such a sad song. When I think that if something like that were to happen to me and I lost my mom, then i dunno... It feels almost as if it /is/ happening to me when i listen to this song... Doesn't Joshua Kadison kinda sound like Elton John? I think that's why my mom listens to him.. She's a HUGE ELTON FREAK!
