Mad World Lyrics

Review The Song (27)Print the Lyrics
All around me are familiar faces
worn out places, worn out faces
Bright and early for the daily races
Going nowhere, going nowhere
Their tears are filling up their glasses
No expression, no expression
Hide my head I wanna drown my sorrow
No tomorrow, no tomorrow

And I find it kind of funny
I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I'm dying
Are the best I've ever had
I find it hard to tell you
I find it hard to take
When people run in circles
It's a very very, mad world, mad world

Children waiting for the day they feel good
Happy Birthday, Happy Birthday
And I feel the way that every child should
Sit and listen, sit and listen
Went to school and I was very nervous
No one knew me, no one knew me
Hello teacher tell me what's my lesson
Look right through me, look right through me

And I find it kind of funny
I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I'm dying
Are the best I've ever had
I find it hard to tell you
I find it hard to take
When people run in circles
It's a very very, mad world, mad world
Enlarge your world, mad world

Review about Mad World

A True to Life Song | Reviewer: Anonymous | 12/6/09

This song is about how we live our lives on the inside. Deep inside no one really understands us, thus we're perpetually alone and vulnerable - specks of dust. Those of us who strive to find higher purpose through a high power have the best chance at contentment - spiritual awareness. The rest of us - we fill our emptyness with toys, entertainment, friends and family in hopes to discover our true purpose. It's ok to be alone and sometimes going to sleep is the best part of the day.

Definitely not a bad song, but... | Reviewer: Anonymous | 11/30/09

IMHO - way too much of whining. So typicall for today's society, to complain about how the world is sad and depressing, rather than go and try to change (or at least enjoy) something. Before you acccuse ME of being shallow, try and read the lyrics again – without anything REALLY bad happening, the author incontinently talks about death. Just because some people he met didn't bounce along happily, there's „no tomorrow”. I am really sorry for everybody who belives that growing up is all about being alone and feeling sad. Did you all people forget about your childhood friends and all the fun you had together?

... | Reviewer: No one | 10/10/09

This is an amazing song, Gary Jules does a beautiful job singing it. I've heard other versions and this is by far my favorite, its funny when I was younger I was always upset. I don't think I was ever really happy, never seeing my father, or my brother and sister... But now, I'm in highschool and I think, "Wow, in just a few years I'm going to be calling the shots, have my own family and a job" this song really shows the transition between childhood to adulthood. Quiet frankly it scares me but whenever I listen to this song I just want to laugh, I always thought my life was so hard, but now I realize its not going to change. Anyone who reads this and your not yet an adult, enjoy your youth while you have it, life is only going to get harder as you live it.

Good song | Reviewer: Zyrin | 4/4/09

This song shows what all of us, or at least most of us, have felt at least once in our lives. It's a song that echoes across time to everyone. It's a rather sad song, but extremely powerful.

For the record, this is a cover of the same song by Tears Before Fears. It's probably one of their better known songs, but always by the cover versions. This particular version has been featured in Gears of War, The Cleaner, CSI, Without A Trace, and Judging Amy, to name a few places.

Emotion | Reviewer: KJ | 12/3/08

I have listened to this song countless times and have tried to determined which version I like better Tears for Fears or Gary Jules. I chose Gary Jules for this reason...

When you speed this song up, it is very easy to brush past the lyrics which is the key element for the song (to me)

Jules has an amazing way of capturing the emotion behind the lyrics and really makes you think, is this really what growing up is about...

Funny how we all thought that being a kid was the worst thing in the world until we got grown and things became increasingly more difficult.

Masterpiece | Reviewer: Anonymous | 5/22/08

As someone below said - this song is a masterpiece because it resides the pain of the soul - the deep inside pain, when you feel lost and feel more like BORED.. When you wake up the morning knowing what to do, everything is the same - "same story another day".. I listen to it whenever I'm lost, this song.. is just perfect.

I might have other or weird explanations; might be wrong and might be not.. But thats what I feel.

take me away | Reviewer: adam | 3/27/08

i listen to this song when i am mad or pissed and i lye down on my bed put on my headphones turn on the song and everything stops.i almost black out. the utter calmness that comes while listening to this song is amazing.it takes you away to a very very calm world.

Why? | Reviewer: Mel | 1/14/08

this song is one of the most amazinlgy , moving songs i have heard...it makes so much sense on so many levels. it moves me to tears everytime i hear it and it feels so good to have a decent cry!!!!
Have a good one!!!!

The real truth | Reviewer: forever21 | 12/29/07

It's ashame that some people are shallow. I suppose the reason it appeals to me is I can relate to it. The truth is rarely spoken , much less sung. This is one of the few songs that the pain of the soul is told , when we feel lost or dying inside.

So what if some people are offended with the truth because they can't handle it. All i can say to Jim Jernouski is "If the shoe fits....."

P.S. Your claim that Jules is a retard because he is "insulting" is a contradictory , for your review is not only insulting it's degrading. I wonder what that makes you.
Be Well

Very beautiful | Reviewer: daedralord Mitch | 12/24/07
