Review about Lying From You Lying From You | Reviewer: Anonymous | 7/18/09 This song is about a guy whose parents belittled him relentlessly as a child, for never meeting their expectations of who they thought he should be. In my opinion, severe emotional abuse/trauma can cause a person to be narcissitic. Narcissim is a very serious mental disorder that renders an individual incapable of loving/lack of emotions. In order for this guy to cope with life as an adult he must conform to others in order to "receive" positive feedback back. Now to the guy in the song, if he had a choose of all the masks he has worn or can wear, it is this particular mask that she wants/desires/loves/treasures and by chance it also happens to be the one he would choose, maybe the one HE likes best in his fantasy world that he lives in. The girl, his victim, falls in love with a fraud! He knows he is a criminal, stealing her love just as a means to ensure his survival. Recall the emotional abuse as a child. Any alternative to constant feedback results in unbearable flashbacks. So....in conclusion, it is this girl that makes him most aware of his "freakish" nature only stemming from the mutual love of that particular "mask" He clearly sees only through her what HE has become and who HE is. Hence it disgusts him and the last person he doesn't want to accept him would be HIMSELF. So even at the cost of being alone he begins lying himself away from her via another more undesirable "mask". Yet, when he suceeds at running her off it is his narcissim again kicking in getting pissed at her because she is taking away his ideal of himself and her approval. DOUBLE WHAMMY!!!In conclusion, with this said girl he is worse off for having ever met her. She actually brought him out of his fanatasy world a world in which he only knows as reality. But, as far as i know, everything else is right. no the lyrics are not accurate | Reviewer: th3g1vr | 8/25/08 I don't know why, but all of the major (unofficial) lyrics sites have the lyrics wrong for this song. it's as if someone heard them wrong, and the other sites just copied the wrong lyrics (which btw is plagiarism). from listening to the song, (1) they don't say "can't forget about...", they clearly say "can"- it should be obvious- I don't see how it's even possible to mishear that part. (2) anyone who can speak English should know that "can't" doesn't make any sense whatsoever in that context- people pretend *so* they *can* forget, for crying out loud.
