One of hip-hop’s fresh, new faces, Chicago-bred Lungz has been attacking the music industry full-force! His seemingly effortless rhymes and conversational style has made him a favorite emcee in not only his hometown, but across the U.S.
Born Chris Hicks, Lungz was raised in Evanston, IL, a north suburb of Chicago, by his mother and grandmother. His artistry and love for hip-hop developed in high school from his heavy involvement in graffiti art and rap freestyle battles throughout the city. After graduating high school, Lungz dabbled in street life and hustling. However, after an incident in which he was arrested for a crime that he did not commit, Lungz decided to focus on his music career and take his art to the next level.
Determined to make his neighborhood and family proud, Lungz released his first mixtape entitled, “The Chris Cashflow Story,” which was hosted by friend and colleague, DJ Sean Mac. He continued to drop high-caliber music with "A Breath Of Fresh Air,” hosted by DJ Cosm Rocks of the Hip Hop Project, as well his underground project, “Buried Alive.” “Buried Alive” solidified Lungz’ spot in the hip-hop community, gaining the emcee artistic respect amongst true hip-hop lovers. The project also rendered personal benefits and was the musical therapy that he needed at the time after the loss of good friend, amongst other private turmoil. Since his emergence, Lungz has opened for hip-hop greats such as Ice Cube, Juelz Santana, Lupe Fiasco, Joel Ortiz, Crucial Conflict, Mick Boogie, and more!
