{VERSE 1}
Picture yourself in a boat on a river,
With tangerine trees and marmalade skies.
Somebody calls you, you answer quite slowly,
A girl with kaleidoscope eyes.
Cellophane flowers of yellow and green,
Towering over your head.
Look for the girl with the sun in her eyes,
And she's gone.
{CHORUS}
Lucy in the sky with diamonds,
Lucy in the sky with diamonds,
Lucy in the sky with diamonds,
Ah... Ah...
{VERSE 2}
Follow her down to a bridge by a fountain,
Where rocking horse people eat marshmallow pies.
Everyone smiles as you drift past the flowers,
That grow so incredibly high.
Newspaper taxis appear on the shore,
Waiting to take you away.
Climb in the back with your head in the clouds,
And you're gone.
{CHORUS}
Picture yourself on a train in a station,
With plasticine porters with looking glass ties.
Suddenly someone is there at the turnstile,
The girl with kaleidoscope eyes.

Review about Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds no LSD | Reviewer: chifbandit | 11/19/09
For those who think this song is about LSD, you need to read more. Also, if you think a person like Lennon would mask if it was about LSD, youre incredibly mistaken again..haha. The song is about the girl his son drew, thats it. They made the twist to play with your mind, thats all. The beatles have been known to do so...

Paul McCartney admitted this song was inspired by LSD in an interview with rolling stone. Amazing amazing song no matter what it's about, it doesn't detract from the song that it's inspired by drugs. Though i think there is some truth in the painting Julian Lennon named lucy in the sky with diamonds story. John no doubt noticed the abreviation of the tittle LSD, and saw how in the painting the girl had diamond shape eyes and how everything was surreal and reflective of an LSD trip, with orange skys and flowers over lucys head. so this inspired him to write a song about LSD inspired by and referencing to the immagry of his sons painting.
Obvious if you think about it. I don't see why people can't see this and have to back one or the other opinion, when clearly it is a mixture of both.

Soo...obviously its about LSD. But they had backup stories, I mean..what band would have blasted that there song was about drugs? use your head people, those stories like the kid or a girl named Lucy, Those are backup reasons, if they where asked. They wouldn't announce that it was a LSD trip. but I guess..believe whatever you want.
To be honest, is very obvious that it's about drugs, and Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, the L, S, and D are all in capitals, and the song words all relate to it. it might be about his son aswell, but its kinda straight forward

omg i love the song it is so cool. Who cares if it is about lsd or some 4 year old. None of it matters man. All that matters is music. Dont try to over analise something. Dont lose the fun of the music. Would your life be any different even if you did know the meaning of the song. Dont be square dude. Just let the song take you far away. Peace out
NOT LSD. | Reviewer: Anonymous | 11/1/09
I don't think that the Beatles would write this kind of song. I think that Lucy In The Sky with Diamonds is an awsome song. I dont think that its about LSD, I recently did a report on LSd and this dosent sound like side effects from LSD.
Easily manipulated fools... | Reviewer: Jason | 10/29/09
Anyone who says this isnt about an LSD trip, has obviously never taken LSD. The beatles were well known for their LSD use and its clearly visible how it affected their style of music. They had millions of fans and because they were pop stars they wouldn't have wanted to exclude any of their fans from their newer music that was made for their fellow LSD users... they'd lose money if they started saying their songs were about drugs, anyone with an ounce of common sense would know that. And you never know, his son could've drawn that picture about Lucy Vodden but that could have been his set for his trip.. he could've been thinking about that painting when he was tripping. I could be wrong, but from personal experience mixed with a tad of common sense, this song is an LSD trip.
this song isnt about an acid trip or about lucy vodden its about transcendentalism the idea that we can live without modern conveiniences and modern society. it says go take a walk by the river dont go spend all your money on drugs its a belief that society is wrong and that we should be spending time in nature
