After the runaway success of Car Wheels on a Gravel Road,
many thought that Lucinda Williams might never be able to
top herself. Her new album, Essence, is proof that she can.
Eclectic and powerful, filled with edgy tunes that stick in
your head so that you end up humming them all day, Essence
is another classic from the woman who is widely considered
to be one of the best singer/songwriters working today.
Car Wheels led to Lucindas second Grammy, gold
certification, being placed on the top of countless
critic's Top Ten lists, and masses added to her
ever-growing legion of fans. Since that release, Lucinda
has been called one of the top 100 women in rock by VH1 and
named as the most influential female singer of the 1990's
by a recent book (Shout Sister Shout, 200 More...

------ About the song West performed by Lucinda Williams
This song is a review of my trip to Colorado 6 years ago. I took a bus with my ex girfriend, and I ignored her wanting to get back with me because i was in love with my girl back home and now hearing this song makes me think about the entire trip...scary. And we never talked again, "Our Trip West" was the last time we spoke. Thanks Lucinda for giving so many people memories both good and bad~

------ About the song Jackson performed by Lucinda Williams
I love the lyrics and the cords, music. how can I download and print that so I can play that beautiful song on my guitar for my wife, kids, family and friends. What a simple, expressive song that makes people think of the simpslisty of life. Wow, what's better than young heartbreak and naivete`.
I thank you for your talent and the music that you inspire for everyone around you.
I look forward to more spectacular work and inspiration.
Always with me,
Mike R Burleson
Check out the version of this song by Kasey Chambers, An Awesome Aussie recording artist that got her start with the "dead ringer band". I saw her first on Austin city limits, and have been a HUGE fan ever since....check her out, you won't regret it. Chris

------ About the song Sweet Side performed by Lucinda Williams
this song gave me a juicy boner. then i suddenly had the shits. this was followed by a facial cumshot. point is, this song blows. the singer has down syndrome and dwarfism (really, look it up). amen.
why don'tcha makeya a pallet on the floor ya'll were the sweetest words I ever heard from my neighborhood ninny when I was just a teen bareley.
mom would throw me out for not abiding the so called rules of curfew. She was the sweetest woman I ever knew and long gone is our ninny. She had a 2 bed. state funded apt. in the projects and put her own roof on the line for a lot of us. She would make coffee and talk all night with us about our disfunctional lives. God rest her soul she should be remembered in song.

Main Road says a lot | Reviewer: Anonymous
------ About the song Main Road performed by Lucinda Williams
I first heard Main Road on a compilation album called Sweet Relief, which was, I believe, a benefit piece for an ailing singer/songwriter, if not Lucinda herself, I can not remember who.
I love the simplicity of this sone and the scratchy southern edge to the guitar.
The Lyrics evoke loss of innocence themes and the words "playin down in a woods of bamboo", for me , evoke images of young boys wandering about helpless in the Macong delta, playing war.
Things haven't changed much, have they
