My sister has spoken with Aaron of Copeland, who writes the songs, and he says though some of the band members are Christians, the songs are not written as Christian songs. Though it's true that songs are meant to be interpreted multiple ways, if we are discussing here what it was written with the intention of communicating, it would be the love between the writer and his lover.

Whether or not the 'miracle' is a child or love is debatable, but I think it fits the entire song much better if it is translated as 'love'. The issue of pregnancy is unrelated to the rest of the song, and Aaron is good enough of a writer to not have such a clear 'error' in the writing.

The miracle is one that she would be 'ashamed' of because of how much love has changed, i.e. love=money for the woman and love=body for the man. True love is certainly something to be ashamed of if this is the context by which you are comparing it to.

Other than that, the song is pretty much self-explanatory-it's beautiful and extremely powerful when the tender lyrics are contrasted against the very unCopeland heavy guitars and hook.

Sad to see such a good band be done, but I look forward to what else Aaron has up his sleeves.

I never knew people interpret the lyrics in those ways... I guess I'm just a bit surprised.

I remember the band mentioning that this song is something like about how every person experiences love and puts meaning into love differently. And it doesn't matter if one's love is "a fast song", "not like we used to hear in those old songs", or "not like yours", because when you experience love, and it feels real, then it can't help but take over your whole world. (Okay, that very last part is my interpretation, but I think the chorus is pretty explicit about it).

Umm guys, Copeland is not a Christian band, they've said it so many times themselves (even in the old FAQ section of their website and in the old message board). The members in it might be Christian, yes, and they seem like really good people. But like other bands, they also write (wonderful) songs about love, and I think they may not necessarily refer directly to God in every song.

This song has nothing to do with pregnancy or god. The miracle inside of her is her love for him and how they love each other, how it's supposed to be, not like people who say they love each other for sex or money.

He is having a conversation with god, and also trying to reach and speak to the messed up world we live in. He is trying to get to the point that love isn't just a word, God is love, and he is knocking on your door, so let him in and let him be the movement in you....

In my honest opinion
i think the movement thing can be taken irrelevant from "god"
like the movement of your heart or spirit sort of thing
Copelan probly was talking about God
but can be taken as a different movement to me
or as some people think that the "miracle inside of you thing" means that she is pregnant
it may possibly talking about the baby's movement or heart sort of speak
which would connect more

I thought it was about a bunch of different situations sort of.

the first one is a girl who is pregnant
"you don't have to be ashamed of the miracle inside of you"

and the song itself seems to be about how love has completely changed. nobody cares about true love anymore
"you should not be angry if all she wants is your money...because all you want is her body"

but I also would have to agree with greg about the whole seeing Jesus in her thing. because it says from the movement thats "in you" not from your movement. or anything like that. it seems to me that if he was talking to God he wouldn't say "in you".

I thought it was about a guy just finding out his wife is pregnant or some sort. You don't have to be ashamed because you're a miracle through and through. You don't have to be ashamed of the miracle inside of you -- Seems like it to me.

i'm a fellow christian, but i don't necessarily agree with the idea of capitalizing the Y here. i believe he's singing to the girl, saying he's in love with her and sees Jesus in here (the "movement" in her)

A great christian band that tries to appeal to the masses. But the lyrics should have a capital "Y":
