Lounge (Closing Time) Lyrics - Modest Mouse

Review The Song (4)

She was going with a cinematographer
Everyone knew that he was really a pornographer
They went down to the dance and grind
And everybody was feeling fine
She was talking with syllable lisp
And everybody she knew was gonna get the twist
And they all went down and did the porcupine
And everybody was feeling high
You are so hot
I would like to steal your digits
And I'm so hung up on it
I would like to
Move away from it
We are so caught up with things
We should pull eachother's triggers
And I'm off
sponsored links
She was going with a cinematographer
Everyone knew that he was really a pornographer
They went down to the dance and grind
And everybody was feeling fine
She was talking with syllable lisp
And everybody she knew was gonna get the twist
And they all went down and did the porqupine
And everybody was feeling high
I've got a girlfriend out of the city
I know I like her, I think she is pretty (X4)
Last call!
It's closing time
I'm on the road to god don't know
My brain's the burger and my heart's the charcoal
It's closing time

I will never ever, ever ever EVER ever. Not love modest mouse.
I came up with this theory when I was younger:
Teenagehood sticks with you for the rest of your life. No matter the effort to escape.
This includes, of course, the music you listen to.
And through my long highschool years, Isaac Brock caressed my ears with his warped guitar and yelling, whispering, sweet, crunchy (slightly lispy) voice. And I fell in love more every day with this band.
My friends dont udnerstand my love for it- because it's unlike anything else I enjoy.

~I've got. a girlfriend out. of this city. I know I like her. I think she is Pretty.~

A thing of legend from a legend | Reviewer: tomPERrone | 1/23/11

A memorable tune on a classic record full of masterpieces. Lyrically as usual Brock as fantastic, and the melody has an almost uncharacteristically haughty tone to it. With it wrapping up with the feel of overbearing despair and longing.

MM really spoil their fans. Most long-term fans almost EXPECT there to be at least one lyrical GEM in every modest mouse song, a line that is on par with anything in most other bands entire CATALOGUE. I sometimes have to remind myself they're human and of course there will be ups and downs. Lyrically I believe their last album was down compared to the masterpiece long drive is, or even everyhere/parlor and moon/anatarctica. But to compare them to OTHER bands of the current time, oh god, it's not even fair to those bands to try to compare to brock. Though lyrically I think No Ones First is down, I DO think Isaac is in a much better place in his life and it comes through in his writing. I feel he's sorted alot of the open-ended questions in his mind and Id much rather him as a fellow human being happier within himself than me selfishly benefiting on his despair through his music. But I assure you, Modest Mouse has been at the top of my list since I heard them 10 some years ago and a guy 7 years older than me at the time was like 'yea bro this is great drinking music' and Me being 13 said 'no, this is just great music'. And they're not going anywhere else on my list anytime soon.

AMAZIN SONG | Reviewer: JAYS0SMOOTH | 7/3/09

This is a modest mouse STORM that starts off Drizzling, Then you get a little pause and you think its over and everything seems fine but it was just the eye of the storm then all hell breaks loose upon and everything around you gets destroyed and thrown around in wurl winds and then it slowly stops and everything falls back down to the earth landing all around you and the sun comes out

Mercurial, Ethereal, Surreal... | Reviewer: Repstock | 2/16/08

This is a highlight tune from MM's exceptional repetoire. The tonal transitions, the pacing of it, the funny and engaging lyrics. It's just so damn catchy and than it becomes this plodding, reserved song and the different sounds just coalesce so well together.
