Loser Lyrics - Beck

Review The Song (41)

In the time of chimpanzees I was a monkey
Butane in my veins and I’m out to cut the junkie
With the plastic eyeballs, spray-paint the vegetables
Dog food stalls with the beefcake pantyhose
Kill the headlights and put it in neutral
Stock car flamin’ with a loser and the cruise control
Baby’s in reno with the vitamin d
Got a couple of couches, sleep on the love-seat
Someone came sayin’ I’m insane to complain
About a shotgun wedding and a stain on my shirt
Don’t believe everything that you breathe
You get a parking violation and a maggot on your sleeve
So shave your face with some mace in the dark
Savin’ all your food stamps and burnin’ down the trailer park

Yo. cut it.

Soy un perdedor
I’m a loser baby, so why don’t you kill me?

(double barrel buckshot)
Soy un perdedor
I’m a loser baby, so why don’t you kill me?

Forces of evil on a bozo nightmare
Ban all the music with a phony gas chamber
’cuz one’s got a weasel and the other’s got a flag
One’s on the pole, shove the other in a bag
With the rerun shows and the cocaine nose-job
The daytime crap of the folksinger slob
He hung himself with a guitar string
A slab of turkey-neck and it’s hangin’ from a pigeon wing
You can’t write if you can’t relate
Trade the cash for the beef for the body for the hate
And my time is a piece of wax fallin’ on a termite
who's chokin’ on the splinters

Soy un perdedor
I’m a loser baby, so why don’t you kill me?
(get crazy with the cheese whiz)
Soy un perdedor
I’m a loser baby, so why don’t you kill me?
(drive-by body-pierce)
(yo bring it on down)

?em llik uoy t'nod yhw os ,ybab resol a m'I rodedreP nu yos
[It's the Chorus backwards]

(I’m a driver, I’m a winner; things are gonna change I can feel it)

Soy un perdedor
I’m a loser baby, so why don’t you kill me?
(I can’t believe you)
Soy un perdedor
I’m a loser baby, so why don’t you kill me?
Soy un perdedor
I’m a loser baby, so why don’t you kill me?
(Sprechen Sie Deutsch hier, Baby!)
Soy un perdedor
I’m a loser baby, so why don’t you kill me?
(know what I’m sayin’? )

Proof Of Beck's Talent | Reviewer: Anonymous | 9/15/12

The fact that Beck came up with this on the spot and BS'd it, yet came up with such a genius song. That's living proof he's an amazing musician! He did the same with the Scott Pilgrim soundtrack. It makes me wonder what went down with the rest of the album, along with "Odelay"

To Scott

You are by far one of the biggest idiots I've ever read information from. You really believe Beck is anti-canadian? I'm sure you'll never read this since tour comment is 2 years old. But I had to comment on such an idiotic statement. I feel dumber reading it, I lost 30 seconds of my life.

Does it matter? | Reviewer: Idiots -.- | 12/3/11

it doesn't matter what meaning the writer had, originally.
If he bullshitted this, it's STILL excellently written, even if it was accidental.

It has a shitload of subtle references, and it's very, very open to interpretation.

Just because HE didn't see anything in it, doesn't mean yall have to do the same.
Regardless of what he thought of it, it's well written, yes, some of it's a little out there, but a LOT of it ties in, and actually has integral meaning to the central theme. If he bs'd this, he's a damn good Bullshitter.

But just because he did, doesn't mean you get to take away the meaning of the song.
What kind of narrow minded idiot is content with "This song was Bs'd, therefore I don't need to find any meaning to it"

To the people who actually interpret music, it's pure analysis. People do puzzles to keep their spacial intelligence from getting rusty, just as people find meaning in things to keep their analytic intelligence on cue as well. It doesn't matter whether he gave it meaning. It has meaning regardless.
So shut the fuck up about it being BS'd
If you only see the world as what others give meaning to, you're unfortunately missing quite a bit, and are incredibly sub par to the average intelligence, stop trying to spoil things because you don't understand. Some people just like giving things meaning for fun, all you're doing is trying to take that from them, great use of your time.

why you hatin on a dude that got lucky putting the single out? so what if it was a joke, freestyled, or a b-side tune, he got it out, made cash of it, & reached fame. what's your accomplishment? posting this to a website? we'll let you stew on that for a minute.

Fucking really? | Reviewer: Haha! | 11/8/11

To the person who wrote: "Wouldn't it be funny? | Reviewer: Anonymous | 8/12/11" and to everybody else who thinks this song has meaning, soul, or anything else with direction or purpose.

This song was a bunch of bullshit Beck made up in his kitchen. He didn't even like it. The only reason he published it was because of pressure from his label, Bong Load.

Do you get me? A label named fucking "Bong Load" wanted to publish this song. I'll let you stew on that for a while.

Goddamn, people.

Umm | Reviewer: Anonymous | 10/25/11

Actually, this song was intended as a joke. He freestyled it in Carl Stephenson's kitchen, a producer for rap-a-lot records. It's funny, the first and biggest hit of Beck's career was the result of a bored Beck and his ability to make up random bullshit on the fly. So I wouldn't delve too deep into it, kiddies.

Wouldn't it be funny? | Reviewer: Anonymous | 8/12/11

I downloaded this song because of the awesome grove and flow. Beck is such an impressive writer to me and obviously very intelligent in a very entertaining sort of way. I, like many other reviewers don't read anything more into this song than freestyle lyrics that just popped up as he went. Even though it seems senseless, I still could have never came up with all of that if I tried. I couldn't help but think though while reading the anonymous facist reviews that are sure we are all headed to a cult now, wouldn't it be funny if they were the one who was right?

meaning | Reviewer: jason | 4/8/11

I believe every song has meaning. Otherwise, everyone is arguing over nothing. I believe he is talking about some of his experiences in life in a fucked up way. For instance My time is a piece of wax dripping on a termite choking on splinters. That is what he is doing spending time with a candle in his hand pouring the wax on termites. he is bored. dont have much to do. bozo nightmare. very repititous. he was probably bored when he wrote the song. so that is what he is suggesting through the song. when your bored you make gibberish.

Don't take it personal | Reviewer: tetrabiblos | 2/3/11

You can add any meaning to anything. Even auto-writing can be meaningful. Only you can and must decide what is truth.

In the time of evolution we go backwards,
Now with chemicals in the body, they wage the war on drugs.
and spray the plants with toxins
My dog gets better food than most people, even my clothes are eatible.
They disguise all of this and put development to halt.
Show races on my TV but tell me not to speed up.
Feed my children our manufactured vitamin-pills
I have many homes, I live in the biggest.

Don't believe what they say is in the air
They will punish you but nature is not our enemy
And keep you in the dark, selling chemicals as beauty products.
With poverty ever growing, they say to blame myself.

And they say: you are a loser, keep on killing yourself.

There is evil all around you, but only evil spreads fear.
They dont want you to hear the music, so they blames music and try to control it.
All under the supposed values of nationalism and consumerism.
So keep watching the same on your tv, they supply the treatment for the cancer they have caused.
You consume all crap they make, making you fat and deprived
And you will not blame evil for it, but good instead.
Because they distort everything, and make you believe their lies.
They make the rules, compliance is rewarded
But profit leads to hate, not love.
So you are made stuck in their created finity, but you can still cough out all these things that are killing you.

In the internal and external infinity of existence, we are in the center to create balance. The evidence is all around you. Watch the Tunesian and Egyptian people's revolution.

1. Be aware of FALSE gifts, they are BROKEN PROMISES
2. Much PAIN, still time
3. BELIEVE there is GOOD in the world
4. We oppose DECEPTION

Terrible! | Reviewer: Scott | 12/30/10

This review is in no way a satire to what that other idi...person wrote that everyone is now attacking.

"In...", first word and I'm already offended. This is obviously a callback to ancient Roman times when they used to kill children who weren't fit to go to battle. Absolutely disgusting!

Insulting defenseless children was one thing but he then goes after the even more helpless Canadians when he says, "vitamin d". I can't believe he would stoop so low as to attack Canadians who have less sunlight than other parts of the world and therefore they put vitamin D in milk. Damn you Beck!

Then the chorus kicks in for even more offensive, fascist, evil nonsense, "Soy un perdedor". Speaking Spanish is his most stupid mistake of all if he was trying to hide his evil plot. That line translates to, "I'm a loser", but clearly is part of his diabolical plan to hunt down stem cells so he can live forever.

The worst and yet unrelated part of it all is that he is a Scientologist. How dare he push his insane "religion" on listeners by not mentioning it directly or by reference! We cannot stand for this kind of rude display of lyrical bombs from a man who has no interest in a cause that I am implying that he does. Stand up (or at least sit up straight) and don't let Beck get into your mind!

I'd continue to complain but I have to go to other sites to make up things as I type just to anger the residents there.

Crude, Rude Parody guy---Why? | Reviewer: Anonymous | 12/19/10

Look man. This song is basically a freestyle about how bad a rapper Beck thought he was, not some coded message to his fascist "co-conspirators." So don't feed me this load of bull using some facade of intelligence to get your point across; because in actuality you are obviously INSANE. And it seems like you're using some of the same tactics that your fascist enemies used: smartly wording a highly illogical argument in an effort to get people to side with your invalid opinions. So please stop criticizing this brilliant and completely innocent song with your unprovable theories, and try not to take things so seriously.

WOW! | Reviewer: Poetic Prince | 12/5/10

Just read through in its entirety the ANONYMOUS review below, that ends with the following:

"I dont need to prove myself, just gotta give a shout out to those being descriminated against in this sick and twisted song."

By crikey does this turd need to one of two things real quick...i) get laid and/or ii) quit smoking whatever it is you're smoking and get some of what Beck smoked when he wrote the song

He simply reads far, far, FAR too much into the song!

Drunk explanation | Reviewer: rogflow | 10/4/10

Couldnt the chorus be like an acualisation that i am nothing so 'why don't you kill me' not literally but do so anyway if you want.

(I’m a driver, I’m a winner; things are gonna change I can feel it)
Haven't you ever felt like this man? The sudden realization (sic) that you are going to make it! It feels great. Tell me this has never just POPPED in to your head. If not your a loser baby.

Get stoned or psychotic enough and everything has meaning.

WTF?! | Reviewer: Daniel | 9/11/10

Let me start from the beginning:
Amazing song, my cheers to Beck. The things I did after heard it: buy a slide to play it and learn the lyrics.

Now, about the meaning of the song, I can tell you with 100% of security that is COMPLETELY MEANINGLESS!
That "anonymous" guy is definitely brain-washed or is just simply ston'd
This song isn't about a mock to the people whit less resources.
I think that it was a freestyle (very good one btw) and, in some kind of crazy way, I think is about how to be a loser being a loser

you kids.. <3 | Reviewer: Anonymous | 8/30/10

you kids who think this is a serious song.
make me want to smoke whatever beck was on when he wrote this.

this guy's my hero now. how he can get people so worked up when it's just a freestyle 'you gotta laugh at yourself motherfucker' kind of song.

ps, i meant in no way that i dislike beck with this. "..whatever beck was on" simply means the song is so gibberish it sounds like he was on something when he wrote it.

pps if you're also going to take me super seriously then you need to get laid. ):
