The Waifs London Still Lyrics

Last updated: 08/23/2010 11:00:00 AM

Wonder if you can pick up my
Accent on the phone
When I call across the country
When I call across the world
I -- see you in my kitchen
I can picture you now
As you toast to your small town
When you drink the happy hour
I’m in London still
I’m in London still
I'm in London still

I took the tube over to Camden
To wander around
I bought some funky records
With that old Motown sound
And I miss you like my left arm
That's been lost in a war
Today I dream of home and not of London anymore
I'm in London still
I'm in London still
Yeah I'm in London still

You know it’s okay
I’m kinda happy here for now
I think I've finally grown up
And got myself a love of now
And if I ever come home
And I, I think I will
I hope you're gonna wanna hang at my place on Sunday still
Oh yeah I hope you will
Cause I'm in London still

You know we got it sorted, yeah
We really got it down
To a fine art on Sunday
In a sleepy Sunday town
I wonder what I'm missing
I think of songs I've never heard
I'm dreaming of your voices
And I'm dreaming of your hurt
I'm in London still
I'm in London still
I'm in London still

Oh I'm in London still
la-la-la-la-la London still
I'm in London

not in London and written well after I left Oz | Reviewer: Anonymous | 3/26/10

But heard it over the internet on the ABC and love it. Been in Japan for 11 years and this song has reminded me of who I am and where I come from. Easy to forget when you have been gone for a long time.

I relate to this song very well at the moment, except to the London part. I'm in France. I've been dreaming of it constantly for so, so long but now 'I dream of home and not of London (France) anymore'

Amazing... | Reviewer: Lyla | 9/19/07

Such a beautiful song! Makes me think of the time I was stuck in London sans passport(lost it). I missed home when I was there but now I miss that city and the amazing people I met there...

eerie airport music | Reviewer: Yoko | 9/17/07

I burnt this song onto a CD for my flatmate before she moved to London 2 years ago. We'd lived together for 3 years and she became a big sister to me. She told me soon after she arrived in London that this song was playing in the airport as she waited for her flight to leave Australia and that the irony made her laugh and cry at the same time. Come home soon Beck!

I didn't know this song while I lived in London, but my sister used to tell me it made her cry. When I listen to it now, I can see why!
