Living Eyes Lyrics - The Bee Gees

Review The Song (3)

Would you believe me if I told you your tomorrow is my yesterday
But be alive
I know that we will
The world keeps on moving but I'm holdin' still

In the beginning I was far away and praying for my destiny
That would arrive
The moment you're born
For we will be here when the miracle comes

Living Eyes, when under the sun don't cry
No war in my mind
The state of my heart
Living eyes, when out in the rain will fall
The day I deny the face of my love

We are of age, we are in time
We are forever
Right now when the power is mine
I leave you heaven and the earth
I leave you never
And living to love is the reason we shine

When I been over I been under
I don't own a dream to analyze
But living eyes you know that I do
believe in the soul and the magic of you

Living eyes, when under the sun don't cry
No war in my mind
The state of my heart
Living eyes, when out in the rain will fall
The day I deny the face of my love

We are of age,we are in time
We are forever
Right now when the power is mine
I leave you heaven and the earth
I leave you never
And living to love is the reason we shine

Living eyes
When under the sun don't cry
No war in my mind
The state of my heart
Living (repeat and fade)

Fade out lyrics | Reviewer: Paul | 9/3/13

This is one of my favorite Bee Gees songs. What has been driving me nuts is as the song begins to fade out, Barry is singing in the backgro9und and I can't make out the words! HELP!!

:overlooked, but one of their best.. | Reviewer: Paul | 1/26/10

This album "Living eyes" came out in the Fall of 1981 in the period after the disco backlash had taken place. The Bee Gees had had 4 successful albums in a row including "Saturday Night Fever" and "Spirits Having Flown"-- they had been the biggest act on the planet in the 1977-1979 period with 6 consecutive #1 singles. Unfortantely the backlash against disco was focused on them and when this very different album came out in 1981 very few radio stations wanted to play it. This is a shame for it contains some great melodic songs such as:"Living Eyes, "Paradise" and
:"Don't Fall in love with me". The lyrics are possibly the best and deepest that they ever wrote, especially on the title track: "Living Eyes".The album was more in the "adult contemporary" vein. It is a shame that more people other than hard-core Bee Gees fans didn't come to appreciate it. A true loss for the music world, but a real treasure.

Better late than never to open my "living eyes" and ears | Reviewer: rhythmstykk@yahoo.com | 6/23/08

I was in high school during the outbreak of "Saturday Night Fever" and loved the sound of the Bee Gees probably more than their average fan and there were plenty of Bee Gees fans in 1978. But by 1980 the sometimes mean-spirited backlash against disco (I never really understood why the public turned on disco with the "disco sucks" chants being heard at every pep rally at my high school) was at full steam and this album went unnoticed by me and apparently alot of other people. It was very "uncool" to like the Bee Gees at that time so I hadn't heard any of the songs on this album until recently. I read the reviews and listened to the 30 second clips on itunes and was intrigued by what I read and heard. After downloading the entire album the first thing that ran through my mind was "how in the world did none of these songs get airplay?" I guess that shows just how strong the anti-disco movement was. The title track "Living Eyes" gave me chills (and still does to some degree) when I heard it the first time. Wildflower is one of those songs that gets better every time you hear it. Paradise is also top-notch. The weakest song is ironically the only song to crack the top 40 in the U.S. I listened to it once and that was enough. That one bad apple shouldn't discourage anyone from taking a tasty bite of this quality collection of songs from one of the greatest bands of all time.
