Lived In Bars Lyrics

Review The Song (6)Print the Lyrics
we've lived in bars
and danced on the tables
hotels trains and ships that sail
we swim with sharks
and fly with aeroplanes in the air

send in the trumpets
the marching wheelchairs
open the blankets and give them some air
swords and arches bones and cement
the lights and the dark of the innocent of men

we know your house so very well
and we will wake you once we've walked up
all your stairs

there's nothing like living in a bottle
and nothing like ending it all for the world
we're so glad you will come back
every living lion will lay in your lap
the kid has a homecoming the champion the horse
who's gonna play drums guitar or organ with chorus
as far as we've walked from both of ends of the sand
never have we caught a glimpse of this man

we know your house so very well
and we will bust down your door if you're not there

we've lived in bars
and danced on tables
hotels trains and ships that sail
we swim with sharks
and fly with aeroplanes out of here
out of here

When I read through the song, separating myself from her wonderful voice, I feel she has more to say than meets the eye. Just my opinion, I feel that she is comparing everybody's life, the good and the bad, and is determined to track down Jesus. "We know your house so very well", "every living lion will lay in your lap", and "as far as we've walked from both of the sand, never have we caught a glimpse of this man". These are just some key points that makes me feel that everyone questions themselves and is searching.

this song is about chan's alcohol abuse and overcoming it. shes said she was so in love with the world and she gave it up. aka she "lived in bottles" and "ending it all for the world"

    possible meaning | Reviewer: Nicky | 11/3/2007

The song is about how we people live to much in our "safe state of minds" and she says that is sometime important to let go to really enjoy life. Some times we have to swim in the sea,fly in the sky,go and take a bungee jump,(lol!) and don't mind about the danger that lies ahead.

this is a great song, her voice, epecially the opening verse, the horns- perfect. I play it over and over. what it means? Don't ask, just let it take you away

    Pure poetry | Reviewer: Steve | 4/17/2007

I don't think there's meaning to these lyrics. Just imagery. And that imagery means something different to everyone that reads them.

    Poetry!

    wow | Reviewer: jeezz! | 4/1/2007

i love this song, it kinda makes me depressed but it makes me think hard too. Some parts of it are easy to get but after i looked up these lyrics, i was a little confused, i had to read carefully.
    Anyway, her voice rocks!
