Few people actually know that what makes someone dedicate an ode to lithium... The coldness that you feel as the bitter and hard-to-swallow pill goes down your throat... You'd grow to hate it, you'd sell your soul if you could "let it go", but you cannot, you just cannot if you want to stay in love with your soul and your sorrow.
You won't ever have the thinnest idea of the terrible pain that makes someone write such a lyrics if you don't have "a chemical dependency for sanity", in Anathema's everlasting words.

I can really realite to this song, I was put on lithum for my depression side of my bi polar disorder, and this song makes so much sense to me. its great because people can realite to it on all diffirent levels. bwaaahhhhh ly evanescene! <3

Ben moodys abscence is hardly even recognised and amy proves how much she kicks ass.On this cd she has m0re freedom and ch0ice and the outc0me iz that the cd c0ntains variety unlike on fallen where the s0ng s0unded the same.This s0ng is my fav0rite simply because its s0 fukn relatable(as m0st ev. I think she wanted to say with that song that she likes to be unhappy, because she always have been with that feeling, and she doesn't want to change it 'cuz It wouldn't be her.
When she says: "Don't wanna lock me up inside". I think she meant that she always lives her experiences from the bottom of her heart, deeply, and she likes that, doesn't wanna change it.

Lithuim is one of the greatest songs I've ever heard. At first I didn't really understand the meaning behind the words but I interpret the words as meaning that the memory of something makes her sad and if she lets the memory go then she'll be happy but that scares her. I'm the exact same why because if I do become happy then some one will that happiness away like they always do and it'll be heartache all over again.
