"A life that's set inside this dream of mine" Is saying that the worlds so messed up and scary that it might just be a dream ( questioning life, and wishing that the world was just a dream, and in that dream all he sees is you (or) "Where you are all I see" probably reffering to a loved one. The choruse is really just about hows hes an avereage man an he doesn't ask for all these bad thing in the world, but their there, so he wishes it was a dream ( thus reffering back to the other part of the song) Hes also fighting inside his head not to kill himself and just end his life ( but his loved one is what keeps him going, also reffering back) So there you have it, i left the easy phrases for you to interpret your own way. I used to be legitimately crazy with depression, and I was the most emotionally feeling person in the world. I was put on Prozac, and not only do I sense that the depression from the black box warning (that whole deal about teenagers getting worse with anti depressants) but I can't feel half the emotions I used to. There doesn't seem to be an alternative. He views the world as a plague, and the evil things that happen when evil people do evil things. The man wants a world with no evil and no war. The last verse where he says " Is there a God tonight..".. In that entire verse he is talking about God and Heaven. "A place where we can hide from the Night.".. "Place" Meaning Heaven.... and the "Night" meaning Hell. "Where you are all I see"... reference to God himself? Thats what I take it as... almost like he is having a conversation with God, and wanting to be dead and in Heaven, rather than finish his life on earth.
