Stanza 2 begins the philosophy that for every action, there is a reaction. In stanza 5, I especially love the reference to falling in love: "It takes some fears to make you trust, it takes those tears to make it rust, it takes the dust to have it polished." Beautiful! First time I've ever considered rust to be a positive thing since it can lead to polishing, refining a relationship.. Stanza 7 is another favorite: It does, indeed, take the time and sound of silence to eventually make a sound. "Be still and know that I am near." And one does search, long and wearily, before the treasure of love can be discovered. To continue, even to "go nowhere," we all need a path(road)... we all need a place to start our journey. It's not even about being meaningful or cheesy but what Mraz has done here is put all the blindly obvious things about the world in here to show you how meaningFUL the seemingly meaningLESS things are and appreciate everything about the world and how it works. I think it's an effective song and shows you how the things you don't ever think about (eg, the lyrics "It takes some good to make it hurt, it takes some bad for satisfaction") make everything work in the world.
