Up a lazy river where the old mill run
That lazy, lazy river in the noon day sun
Linger in the shade of that fine ole tree
Throw away your troubles, dream a dream of me, dream a dream of me
Up a lazy river where the robin's song
Wakes up in the mornin', as we roll along
Blue skies up above ....everyone's in love
Up a lazy river, how happy we will be, now
(instrumental break)
(this is also where the sheet music was dropped)
He (Armstrong) laughs and says: if i aint rippin' this evenin' i hope.
(continues to scat)
(plays trumpet to end)

Review about Lazy River little known fact :) | Reviewer: crystal | 10/23/2007
I am a huge fan of Armstrong and love listening to his music. I was listening to this song on my computer suddenly thought back to the Ken Burns' documentary "Jazz" (awesome). In this song, the second verse is the first and only verse. A historian (Paul Glaser?) was talking about Armstrong recording this very song. The history goes that Armstrong was recording the song with sheet music in hand. By the last line of the 1st verse, the sheet music fell on the floor. So Armstrong had to improvise. He scatted.
