Kris Kristofferson was born in Brownsville, Texas. He spoke Spanish before English . His father was an Air Force Major-General. Kristofferson spent his youth moving around the country wherever his father was assigned. Some of his songs include, "Me and Bobby McGee," "Help Me Make It Through The Night," "For The Good Times," "Loving Her Was Easier, "and "Why Me," to name a few. Kris has toured several months a year for the last twenty years with his band and most recently as a part of The Highwaymen with his longtime friends Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings.

Kristofferson graduated from Pomona College in California where he majored in Creative Literature and was awarded a Rhodes Scholarship to Oxford University. After a stint as an Army pilot, he declined a teaching post at West Point and moved to Nashville to pursue a writing career and a foothold in the country music scene. Within a few years success arrived when his now classic song "Sunday Morning Coming Down." He has been named to the Songwriter's Hall of Fame and has had his songs recorded by hundreds of major artists.

Kristofferson's acting career lifted off with his musical success. He started with his first film in 1971, and followed this success with several hits. Certainly a landmark in his film career was starring in "A Star Is Born" with Barbara Streisand, for which he was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor.

Kristofferson once said, "It's where the stuff you feel in your heart is expressed, it's the closest thing to your soul," he says of his music. "To me it's satisfying to express things that you feel and have other people say 'Right, that's exactly how I feel, too.' "

Had the good fortune to see " The Highwaymen" perform in Western Australia several years ago. Am accustomed to attending big name concerts where the main attraction appears thirty or forty minutes after the warm up group have left the stage, and then have them quickly run through a prepared , tired set, followed by a rushed encore, or maybe two. Not these wonderful people, as the warm up group finished , they were on there with them singing and playing along, so that the transition was seamless. Sure they played their favourites, then the audience favourites, an occasional sip of water , no breaks and they played on and on. It was hard to tell who was having the most fun, It was well after 11.30 pm before the management , with regret I would think , had to break up what was a most wonderful experience . Unforgettable and sadly unrepeatable. But ten thousand people went home " singing along"

Convoy Extra | Reviewer: maxie | 6/10/10

I met Kris Kristofferson on a movie set in the hot desert in New Mexico in the l970's. My son and I worked as an extra and we met Kris along with Ernie Borgnine, Natalie Woods and others. He treated us like we were stars instead of extras. What a great people person! You are here in Kettering, OH but I could not get tickets. Maxie

My long time favorite | Reviewer: Joan | 5/21/07

Kris has been my favorite since the early days, and through the movies, concerts and recordings.
I was majorally touched by the recent tribute by Roseanne Cash.
If Kris is ever in my area of Virginia, I would like to invite him for a homecooked meal!!! Of course, his wife can come, too!

Man of Justice! | Reviewer: Jeanette Hammons | 4/15/07

I think Kris is one of the greatest singer ,songwriter of out time. I love what he stands for. He's not afraid to say what he believes in.If I were a guy and had to go to war He would be the one I'd want by my side.
He has a beautiful smile...which seems to really come from the heart and he's still handsome to this day.

I have listened to your songs since the 70's and can't get them out of my head.I think it's time to re-release those old classics and let the country world know what music is.
