Verse 1-
Never too soon to be through.
Being cool, too much too soon.
Too much for me and too much for you.
You're gonna lose in time.
Don't be afraid to show your friends.
That you hurt inside (inside).
Pain's part of life don't hide behind your false pride...
It's a lie.. your lie.
Chorus- 2x
If you see me getting by,
If you see me getting high,
Knock me down.
I'm not bigger than life
Verse 2-
I'm tired of being untouchable.
I'm not above the love.
I'm part of you and you're part of me.
Why did you go away?
Finding what you're looking for
Can end up being, being such a bore.
I pray for you most every day.
My love's with you, now fly away.
Chorus 2x
Instrumental Break
Chorus 6x
-Woman singing-
It's so lonely when you don't even know yourself.. it's so lonely. 4x

Review about Knock Me Down being humble | Reviewer: brndn1992 | 3/9/09
Everytime I hear this I imagine me and my bro just being together and singing it. Then I think about being humble and never being out of line like everybody else who acts stupid to fit the norm. That's why I never try to act all big and shit.
One of my favorite songs ever | Reviewer: Substance-D | 11/27/07
Knock me down is a great song. I'm not the biggest RHCP fan but love this one. I always thought it was about getting adcited to drugs. Ahhh the wonders pf a subjective mind.
Anyway if you don't own a copy of Mothers Milk you should. It is worth buying just for this song.
BEST song | Reviewer: Funktipuss | 10/16/07
This, for me is their best song and i have virtually all there cds, all there albums at least. its just such an amazing song, both versions. but if you watch interviews with anthony he says it isnt specificaly about hillel, although many other songs are. it does refer slightly to hillel, and his book, scar tissue, would make you think so but he says himself its not just hillel he sings about in knock me down.
I love this song. After reading Anthony Kiedis' autobiography I realised that this song is actually based around Hilell one of the funkiest founders of funk. It was written after he died from drug abuse. I fucking love Anthony.
Actually the chorus is "if you see me getting MIGHTY, if you see me getting high, knock me down..." Any fan of the Chili's should read Anthony's memoir, Scar Tissue. It's incredible.
