How he compares his love to a lighthouse, and his dependency on her to a drug. There's no death anywhere in this song. "Grave" is a mis-heard lyric. This song hints at danger, though. If you follow the metaphor of the lighthouse, and the blatant use of 'grey' and 'snow' you can conclude that without her he would have no direction - she is his guide through the darkness (or the 'grey').
