Review The Song (16)Print the Lyrics
There's a little black spot on the sun today
It's the same old thing as yesterday
There's a black cat caught in a high tree top
There's a flag-pole rag and the wind won't stop

I have stood here before inside the pouring rain
With the world turning circles running 'round my brain
I guess I'm always hoping that you'll end this reign
But it's my destiny to be the king of pain

There's a little black spot on the sun today
(That`s my soul up there)
It's the same old thing as yesterday
(That`s my soul up there)
There's a black cat caught in a high tree top
(That`s my soul up there)
There's a flag-pole rag and the wind won't stop
(That`s my soul up there)

I have stood here before inside the pouring rain
With the world turning circles running 'round my brain
I guess I'm always hoping that you'll end this reign
But it's my destiny to be the king of pain

There's a fossil that's trapped in a high cliff wall
(That`s my soul up there)
There's a dead salmon frozen in a waterfall
(That`s my soul up there)
There's a blue whale beached by a spring tide's ebb
(That`s my soul up there)
There's a butterfly trapped in a spider's web
(That`s my soul up there)

I have stood here before inside the pouring rain
With the world turning circles running 'round my brain
I guess I'm always hoping that you'll end this reign
But it's my destiny to be the king of pain

There's a king on a throne with his eyes torn out
There's a blind man looking for a shadow of doubt
There's a rich man sleeping on a golden bed
There's a skeleton choking on a crust of bread

King of pain

There's a red fox torn by a huntsman's pack
There's a black-winged gull with a broken back
There's a little black spot on the sun today
It's the same old thing as yesterday

I have stood here before inside the pouring rain
With the world turning circles running 'round my brain
I guess I'm always hoping that you'll end this reign
But it's my destiny to be the king of pain

King of pain
I'll always be king of pain
I'll always be king of pain

Review about King Of Pain

Classic awesomeness!! | Reviewer: April | 11/7/09

The Police are legendary and for good reason. To me, it is all about Sting's impossible to replicate singing and Stuart Copeland's drum playing. One of the best drummers in rock and roll history, in my opinion

Classic | Reviewer: Nan | 5/1/09

I love the police! This song is a classic, and one of my favorite. I have heard mudvayne's version and i think it is unbelievable, too. Same song, different expressions! That is the great thing about ART!

Mud what? | Reviewer: Derek | 3/10/09

Mudvayne's cover is better? You guys have to be kidding me. The Police are in the rock and roll hall of fame and in only a short few years put out some of the greatest music ever. The Police are fronted by one of the greatest musicians in history! Mudvayne are a nice heavy band that will forever be on the fringe of music. The Police are one of the all time greats. That is not an opinion it is fact.

Insane | Reviewer: John | 2/23/09

This song is phenomenal. Everything about it is perfectly done. I have heard the Mudvayne version and it does not hold a candle to the original. Mudvayne was not meant to sing this song. They turned what was a calm, mellow and reflective song into a bitter and pissed off song. The Police and maybe Alanis but NOT Mudvayne.

What an excellent song, both by Mudvayne and by the Police. I feel that the Police's version is better, but not by much. Mudavyne's singer just didn't have the voice for the first verse, but its perfect the rest of the way through.

Wow. | Reviewer: Anonymous | 8/22/08

Yeah I also hadn't heard this version until I had listened to Mudvayne's version of it. I like both really well. Although I have to say I personally like Mudvayne's version best. Stuff that's heavier in sound tends to be more "moving" for me. Still, The Police are genius for writing this song.

mudvayen is way better | Reviewer: jospeh kravets, new jersey | 2/21/08

im sorry, but mudvayne version is way better. the mudvayne version is the best song i ever heard, and the only song that ever made me cry( my parents are divorced and i cant afford a fucking shower curtain). maudvayne is awsoem, but only other police song i find good is every breath you take

Awesome | Reviewer: VASH OK | 1/23/08

Both the band and specially this song... awesome...
I also listened to Mudvayne's version and found it great too...
Fits Chad perfectly... the lyrics is great...
And I believe that the switch to QUEEN of pain occurs on Alanis' version... she does that... Both Sting and Chad sing KING of pain to the end!

Queen? | Reviewer: jughead789 | 1/15/08

Why do the lyrics show it switching to queen of pain at the end...The song I version of the song I have never switches at the end

Queen of pain? | Reviewer: Anonymous | 1/2/08

why does the whole song's chorus say KING of pain until the end when it suddenly changes to QUEEN of pain? did he decide to change genders before he finished?
