Killswitch Engage Lyrics

Following the demise of his band Overcast in 1998, bassist
Mike D'Antonio explored the underground Massachusetts
hardcore punk and heavy metal scenes in search of members
for a new band. In 1999, D'Antonio met Adam Dutkiewicz and
Joel Stroetzel, guitarists for Aftershock. Dutkiewicz took
the role of playing drums, while Stroetzel remained on
guitar. The trio searched for a vocalist and eventually
hired Jesse Leach, formerly of Corrin and Nothing Stays
Gold. The now four-member band took the name of "Killswitch
Engage," a name More...

------ About the song The End Of Heartache performed by Killswitch Engage

I don't believe this song is about long distance relationships. This song describes about he's sorrow without being with a girl that he loves. A moment is an eternity. That's how I was when one of my ex's left me. This song is about a woman leaving him without saying a word in my opinion.

------ About the song My Curse performed by Killswitch Engage

I believe this song is more about love over distance, It applies to me because me and my ex girlfriend were and still are very much in love. She had to move across the country with her father but we still don't date other people much because we are still in love. To me its a song about "I will get back to you, please wait for me" but when the verse "dying inside these walls" makes me think maybe its a love story about a prisoner or convict. As far as all you people saying that the girl you said you love doesn't love you back, I'll tell you why: She loves you more than a boyfriend, she loves you like a brother and she doesn't want to lose that. Get over it, you don't want to date your sister so move on.

------ About the song This Is Absolution performed by Killswitch Engage

I really don't agree with people saying that the lyrics ARE or ARE NOT something. Music was created for interpretation INDIVIDUALLY. Do I think the lyrics contain a Christian influence? Yes, I think it is obvious that these lyrics are faith inspired, especially because of Adam and Jesse's band Times of Grace. BUT, that does NOT mean that there aren't other ways to interpret it. That is the beauty of music, and lyrics, and poetry! Everyone should interpret it in a way they can maximize their enjoyment. But NO ONE should be saying it IS or IS NOT something. You are missing the point if you think YOU are right.

------ About the song Rose Of Sharyn performed by Killswitch Engage

the song is titled rose of sharyn, and rose of sharon, or rosasharn, is a character in steinbeck's "the grapes of wrath". she lost her husband after he ran away from her, and through part of the book, she speaks of how he might come back and see her again. she has a "mysterious smile" at the end of the book, thus the smile line in the lyrics. however, this doesnt prevent the song from also talking about his mother at the same time.

------ About the song This Is Absolution performed by Killswitch Engage

Whatever the band members had in mind as to the meaning of the lyrics, it still matters what it means to the individual listener. To some, this is a cool song about standing strong, and living your life in a positive, progressive light; and that's totally cool. To others, such as myself, it is a song representing my Christian faith and the struggles that God has helped me overcome. Lines such as "death claims us no more", represents how as a follower and believer of that Jesus dude, death isn't something to fear or grieve, because there's more to the world than is measurable and observable by us humans. I have the personal view that if there's this almighty God that can do anything, he could put into place circumstances for KSE that indirectly causes to write lyrics like these to encourage everyone: Christians, atheists, and the like.

And there's the element that KSE is fantastic.

KSE is not a Christian band nor do they EVER specify a certain religion in ANY of their songs - not even spiritual ones like these.

Being spiritual and religious are two completely different things. As a few (but not enough) people have already said, KSE could be referring to ALL religions - even Atheism. This is about being human, taking life by the horns, and being too busy living that you forget about fearing death.

------ About the song This Is Absolution performed by Killswitch Engage

you can interpret this in a christian way if you will, but the fact is it's not. this song is about all who the self is, believing in yourself, believing in everything YOU stand for, and doing what YOU think is right no matter what anyone else says. there is a difference in putting your faith in god and putting it in yourself, and KSE always use insporational lyrics to spur everyone to be themselves, let the world throw what its got at you but always know that you will prevail through self-determination

------ About the song A Bid Farewell performed by Killswitch Engage

I would just like to add that there are obviously many meanings to the works of a writer. I can see and will not discredit anyones interpretation of how this song touches them but looking outside the actual words themselves and going through what im going through the meaning of this song can also relate to addiction. Addiction is a disease that internally conflicts with our own self and begins a persons own war within there own mind... Someone who doesnt understand addiction will definately not interpret this that way but if you do then you see where im coming from....

------ About the song A Bid Farewell performed by Killswitch Engage

I agree with those who speak about bad relationships. I also think is about leaving behind those relationships and starting from zero. I think its so funny that some guy attributed love of self to satan and religion, yes they might be christians but that doesnt mean they have to attribute everything to religion I HOPE YOU FINALLY UNDERSTAND THAT YOU FUCKING MISSIONARYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I could have sworn it said "In my grieving".
Also, I have a long distance boyfriend. We've only just began to know eachother completely. I'm going to see him next month, too. He learned this on the guitar so he could play while I sing. kjdhd. <3
