Equipped with cryptic, dreamy lyrics and a femme lead singer, the "new wave-ish" pop band Kill Hannah evokes memories of Meat is Murder stickers on my high school locker and staying up late to watch new Cure videos on MTV's 120 minutes. Kill Hannah (Update) In fact, with their tight rhythms, driving guitars (Kerry Finnerty used to be in Certain Distant Suns) and faux British accent, this babyfaced Chicago quintet is not unlike the post-Japanese Whispers, pre Disintegration Robert Smith & Co.

Q101's James Van Osdol says, "I like them a lot, for many reasons. One of which being [that] they don't sound like anyone else right now. They are a total breath of fresh air, and I won't be surprised if they become the sleeper band in Chicago. I can see them getting snapped up quite easily."

Several recent setbacks (including the death of their drummer in December, 1996) have kept Kill Hannah from playing out much recently. However, a couple of talented producers are vying for the right to work on their next album, and most of the band members have recently graduated from Columbia College, which leaves them plenty of time to pursue their musical interests.

Hott much? They are now my new favourite band along with KH! I loved meeting Mat Devine he gives everything he can to his fans and he stood there making sure he had met everyone, it even started raining! and he still waited outside signing outographs and taking pictures! if you get the chance to see them thn you shouldnt hesitate!

    KILL HANNAH <3

    MY PASSION <3

    Agreed | Reviewer: ... | 3/6/2008

met KH a couple of times now, have seen them three times and going to see them again soon as their are my favourite band.
i completely agree with "jessy" on what they're like.
However i disagree with previous comments that they are nothing like AFI. yes Davey does screamo but they do have the same intelligent dreamy lyrics and look to the band. THey have strong guitar mixed with synthy eltronic sounds making their genre unidentifiable just like AFI. They also have the same fans and i can easily see how they can be considered together. Davey Havok said he likes them anyway.

    Tightness... | Reviewer: Jake | 1/18/2008

Well first off, I hear Kill Hannah got a new drummer, and it is due to the fact that their old one died. Sorry to all of the Kill Hannah guys. It sucks losong someone, I know.

As for your music, awesome, I play guitar and drums, and am taking vocal lessons, I have written songs, and composed them. And after hearing Kill Hannah's stuff, being dumped by a Hannah my self, twice! I have been inspired to take my music to new heights!
Kill Hannah, you guys rock, and if I ever get a chance to really preform, your name will be mentioned in my insperation story/
    peace out!

    Uhm...Forgive The Interruption | Reviewer: AlabasterDoll | 1/12/2008

AFI is of the screamo variety - this means Davey Havok's scream is harsher.

I will grant that some of AFI's lighter songs sound vaguely similar to the untrained ear but if you know any detail about Kill Hannah and AFI you would know that Davey Havok is a screamo/post hardcore vox, and Mat Devine is not.

Mat Devine's voice is a smoother sound. It has the harsh undertones but its not screaming like Davey Havok. More a whisper than a scream.

Please, feel free to learn something about tone, pitch and the various use of vocal cords before you attempt to critisize any decent band again.

Kill Hannah sounds NOTHING like AFI.
    please, get yours ears adjusted.

After Until There's Nothing Left of Us...they did a show at Tower Records and everyone who bought the CD there got to get the cd and a poster signed.

They are some of the nicest people i've even been encountered by and they really really love what they do and they're so passionate and devoted.

I can't wait for their Christmas show in Chicago.

I love how these boys have thier own unique, dreamy sound that makes me melt everytime i listen <3

    kinda funny.... | Reviewer: Anonymous | 10/16/2007

okay so i heard about kill Hannah in a weird way. my name is hannah, and i was one day having a search through my boyfriend at the times bedroom when i came across a blank CD that he'd written 'Kill Hannah' on.... i knew he was kinda kinky, but that freaked me out... i actually thought he planned to kill me!! i put the CD in my laptop however and started to listen, and ironically i fell in love!!! funny how things work out, hey?!!

Why they're called what they are... | Reviewer: Anonymous | 8/20/2007

Like... Matt got out of this bad relationship with this strange chick (hannah) and he put stickers over some of the bands demos(?) or something... hence the name "Kill hannah"...

    kill...me? | Reviewer: Hannah | 8/19/2007

A friend of mine told me about Kill Hannah a while back, and I was a little skeptical of the band name, being a Hannah myself...But as soon as I found out they were real, that creeped me out a bit. I wonder where exactly the band name came from, because that's only just a little bit weird, right? I mean, I'm not denying that they make good music and that they're a good band, because yes I agree that they are, but really, where did the name come from?

    kh | Reviewer: gulsah | 8/4/2007

anyone who hasn't ever heard kill hannah's music is missing something huge -something none of any other bands can fill- in my humble opinion. not much to do except appreciate their devotion to their music and fans...they are unique, just like their music.

i don't know why i'm bothering to write a review but really kill hannah is one of the best and most underappreciated bands around. those boys work their asses off to make their music and to connect with their fans, and yet they're still almost always the opening act, not the headliner. they're the sweetest, strongest kids i know and if there were any justice they'd be the biggest band in the world. (and yes, it's true, dan gives effing fantastic hugs)
