My stepfather and best friend was shot by the police in December of of 2010. He was the greatest person I've ever known. This song is word for word about him and his life. We can all relate to it in some way, but every word is absolutely perfect for him. Right down to the river. Though his river was the Columbia. For years before he was shot, it was one of his favorite songs. God bless the greatest man I have ever known.

This song kept me sane when I had to spend 6 months alone raising my youngest son (who was 6 months old)while my boyfriend was in jail. I related to it on two different levels, one from my boyfriends point of view being gone and my own level of being alone with my son and wanting to kill the pain of lonliness.I wore out 2 CD's in those 6 months. Excellent song, wish I could find it more often for ringtones and ringbacks.
