Keith Green Lyrics

I repent of ever having recorded one single song, and ever
having performed one concert, if my music, and more
importantly, my life has not provoked you into Godly
jealousy or to sell out more completely to Jesus! — Keith
Green

Keith Green was 15 the first time he ran away from home. He
started a journal that ran for years as he looked for
musical adventure and spiritual truth. Keith had a Jewish
background, but he grew up reading the New Testament. He
called it "an odd combination" that left him open minded,

Song from heaven | Reviewer: Augustina
------ About the song Your Love Broke Through performed by Keith Green

I just love this song and so all otter songs of My beloved brother Keith. These songs can only be given by heaven. I sleep and wake with it. I can pray when I listen to his music. I can't wait to meet him in heaven one day.

------ About the song I Want To Be More Like Jesus performed by Keith Green

For the fifth line of this song, you have:

Well I'm blind to all His needs,

It should be:

Well I'm blind to others' needs,

Got these directly from a book of Keith Green songs published by Hal Leonard.

Heaven's Gain, Our Loss | Reviewer: Ronald Shultz
------ About the song There Is A Redeemer performed by Keith Green

Keith was a wonderful singer and writer. His lyrics have put me face down on the ground crying out to God to make me more holy and Christlike. I have a lot of CDs from various groups, but Keith's are my favorites!

------ About the song My Eyes Are Dry performed by Keith Green

One of the most beautiful hymns my church has ever sung. I will sing it for a special performance of our choir, first singing solo, then adding our choir, then inviting the congregation....and then repeating the chorus with all, really encouraging everyone to sing out!

Touched by an Angel | Reviewer: Rose Raynor
------ About the song Your Love Broke Through performed by Keith Green

I first heard keith Green song in 1989,"When I hear the Praises Start" I was going through alot in my life at that time, severe depression, where I began to feel things on me, and things moving in my room, and hear voices screaming at me and sometimes playing with me, and even banging my head up against the wall for choosing Christ as my Lord and not letting go, my life and everyone that I loved was being threated by this enemy which I thought many times I would never wake up the next day, having to beg God to put me to sleep at night to stop the convultions and resist this evil strength that wanted to give me power over everyone that ever hurted me....I felt helpless, all I knew to do was call Jesus to put me to sleep....
However I did not know how I would hear this song again, in the 90's I heard his music, "Your love broke through," "Lord your Beautiful," and a few others, though I never really knew Keith Green until 2009 while I'm doing a project on my favorite music artist, and I was in for more than a treat, so much I am learning, and have learned about this wonderful man of God.... greatest dream is also to become a very great singer for the Lord and that he forever have his way in my life.

Out of the Darkness | Reviewer: Jeff from Luton
------ About the song Asleep In The Light performed by Keith Green

This is my favourite of Keith's songs. His music and lyrics were a great inspiration to me in my struggle to be free of alcoholism and addiction. In this song Keith provided a powerful reminder that faith without works is well and truly dead. Thank you God for the life and work of this remarkable and gifted man.

About "Rushing Wind" | Reviewer: Keith "fan", nah, "Jesus" fan ;-)
------ About the song Rushing Wind performed by Keith Green

This was the first cut on the 1981 Sparrow title, "The Keith Green Collection." It's a powerful example of Keith's fervent faith, pianistic acumen, and the power of the Lord's Spirit upon Keith's ministry in concert.

The song was recorded live with Keith at the piano. What, no band? For this tune, Keith didn't need one! Forcefully slow but not "dragging", pitched in "C Major", Keith's voice raises (high, of course!) this prayer for the infilling of the Spirit and his own willingness to follow whatever the cost. A classic "Keith" harmonic structure and exquisitely executed scalar runs accompany the tune, which segues into a live version of "You Put This Love in my Heart". Sparrow then cut to the studio version of that tune before the vocal comes in (so, yes, you can get your fill of Bill Maxwell's considerable production abilities as well!)

I had only received the album when my father came to me with the news of Keith's passing ... so the "Collection" quickly became a "collector's item" as we knew there would be no more original albums forthcoming. Fortunately, if you missed that record ;-), you can hear the song on Sparrow's "Keith Green: The Ministry Years", released posthumously in two volumes during 1987-1988.

If any of Keith's family views this, know that we still thank God for Keith's ministry and the LORD is still using Keith's songs for His glory.

------ About the song How Majestic Is Thy Name (Psalm 8) performed by Keith Green

This is one of Keith's songs that takes me to a different plane. It sums up creation beautifully and shows all over again how big God is and how small we actually are. But at the same time, how much love he has for us.

Jesus Thankyou!! | Reviewer: Joan pense

historically significant Jesus movement song | Reviewer: D Nash
------ About the song To Obey Is Better Than Sacrifice performed by Keith Green

This song woke up the Jesus Generation from peace love and greasy grace to taking a serious look at discipleship. It was a counter-move on the pendulum between law and liberality. The main thing is to realize that we are not judged according to what we have done, but what Jesus has done. Our responsibility is to come to Christ, and have his blood saccrifice cover our sins. Then we are IN Christ and it is all about what HE has done! Praise the Lord!
