Keep Talking Lyrics - Pink Floyd

Review The Song (16)

For millions of years mankind lived just like the animals
Then something happened which unleashed the power of our imagination
We learned to talk

There's a silence surrounding me
I can't seem to think straight
I'll sit in the corner
No one can bother me
I think I should speak now ___________ Why won't you talk to me
I can't seem to speak now ____________ You never talk to me
My words won't come out right ________ What are you thinking
I feel like I'm drowning _____________ What are you feeling
I'm feeling weak now _________________ Why won't you talk to me
But I can't show my weakness _________ You never talk to me
I sometimes wonder ___________________ What are you thinking
Where do we go from here _____________ What are you feeling

It doesn't have to be like this

All we need to do is make sure we keep talking

Why won't you talk to me _____________ I feel like I'm drowning
You never talk to me _________________ You know I can't breathe now
What are you thinking ________________ We're going nowhere
What are you feeling _________________ We're going nowhere

Why won't you talk to me
You never talk to me
What are you thinking
Where do we go from here

It doesn't have to be like this
All we need to do is make sure we keep talking

All we need to do is make sure we keep talking! II | Reviewer: EugeneIsNotCareful | 12/23/11

Ahh... Well, it's exactly like "Let me be! I can't breathe!"
But it's like "Help Me! I can't breathe!" too...

He can sing so many feelings in one sentence.....

Isn't it depressive if you try to imagine David feeling this...?
Sitting in the corner, weak, feeling like he's drowning, can't seem to speak, unable to breathe..........
*Chills*

And-
Happy New Year, Floydians!
I hope people will be Coming Back To Life in Year 2012...
Best wishes from Prague again!

For millions of years, mankind lived just like the animals.
Then something happened which unleashed the power of our imagination.
We learned to talk.
And we learned to listen.
Speech has allowed the communication of ideas, enabling human beings to work together.
To build the impossible.
Mankind's greatest achievements have come about by talking.
And it's greatest failures by NOT talking.
It doesn't have to be like this!
Our greatest hopes could become reality in the future.
With the technology at our disposal, the possibilities are unbounded.
All we need to do
is make sure
we keep talking.

-Stephen W. Hawking

All we need to do is make sure we keep talking! | Reviewer: EugeneIsNotCareful | 11/19/11

This song gives us so many things.
About communications. About feelings.
David's guitar and his voice will help us to understand how important it is To be sure we keep talking.

The sound of his voice in this song is incredibly depressing-sounds so weak and depressed (mostly weak) When he sings that "I feel like I'm drowning" and "You know I can't breathe now" is in his voice to hear the emphasis, indication that it is urgent-as if he said ' Let me be! I can't breathe! '
(Who noticed that?)

And in PULSE David that "I'm feeling weak now" perfectly, weakly and slightly breathe out. ... I think I would beleve him that...
It is difficult to describe the feeling that I have. Keep Talking!
Sorry for my English.
I'm from the Czech Republic.
Best wishes from Prague!

My viewpoint | Reviewer: Brett | 6/18/11

I have always taken this song as being of a much bigger picture. I look at it as the human race's inability to settle conflicts through verbal discussion, and instead to settle conflicts through war, oppression and aggression.

Balance | Reviewer: Anonymous | 4/5/11

This song reveals the tension between the need to speak and the inability to quit. If our human race is as Hawking admits, then we have to stay imaginative through audio transmission to evolve and live with meaning. If we never spoke we'd have never become the Division Bell. Cleverly, it mirrors Floyd's own discomfort and Wright appears a ghost. Hopefully death is a reminder that it will ALL end even if we "keep talking."

Nice Prasent | Reviewer: MarioAndreas | 7/9/10

Mice,
This was a present of my Ex.
When i read the text and saw the pictures printet on the inlet of hte cd: divion bell....
My conclusion is that this is absolutly high psycho stuff. written for epecially for female.
Yeah great stuff.
Vice Versa you can say that female always talk and it is so that if you talk to female about yourselfs she will nit keep it but tell it to another female. A Mother, a friend or someone else.
However. That is the reason for misunderstanding.
When i tell a girl my innerst thougths and other stuff about life in genreal then i suposse that it is in good hands by her not of her mother, girl friend or someone else.

I wish you were here | Reviewer: Ray | 10/8/09

This song is more than a talking for me...
I Know that we need to speak but for me it's a depression. A cry because nothing gone right because the comunication is nothing most of all...
And it's when a young 17 years old men who has lost his father ressently.. I think, I talk.. but most of all I think

piece of my live | Reviewer: Anonymous | 6/12/09

When I hear this song I remeber the times I was having something to say and I coundn't, just couldn't... When I finaly speak up about my dissapointments, it happened be too late. Someone else will was much more dissaponted in me then I ever was on him.

Keep Talking | Reviewer: QuestionAuthority | 5/21/09

I'm going through this situation right now in my personal life. "Keep Talking" came on the radio and the power of the lyrics cut right through me. I have a degree in Communications and I have never heard such a powerful statement of the need to communicate.
I made me cry - and I'm a middle-aged man.

From the Child of a Narccissistic Father.... | Reviewer: Anonymous | 10/30/07

This song defines my relationship with my father that suffers from Narcissistic Personality Disorder.
He never talked to me.

My mother spoke the Stephen Hawking lines.

a dialogue | Reviewer: ajnochka | 10/17/07

i recently HEARD this song and was simply taken aback by the lyrics..!
i've been studying consulting in psychology for 2 years, still i didn't learn so much from it as from these 6 minutes of Keep Talking..
..i believe that the truth can be found only in a dialogue
